Its got banana skin written all over it. As you say have to be on top of our games and focus. If we are we win. But slip just a little and its danger territory.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 10:25 amWatched the Pies v Solihull last night on telly-box. They struggled for most of the game, to unlock the defence (without being "under the cosh"). We would do well to ensure we don't think this is a gimmie. If we're not up for this, we will find the distance between hero and zero is incredibly small.

I think the first game told everyone that. If they're not focused after that, then they never will be.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 10:37 amIts got banana skin written all over it. When's the last time we were live on terrestrial telly? Elton Welsby era?

Yes, point taken. Perhaps you're right in that we'd be better served resting Lee for Wycombe. In light of that I'd go:GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 9:52 amI'd give Lee a rest. I'd rather we didn't push him to three games on the bounce and I think we could use his experience away at Wycombe.
No complaints with whatever line-up, though. We have plenty of quality to beat Stockport, it'll be about the mental side of the game as to who wins it.
Dixon
Isgrove Santos Aimson John
MJ
Thomason Sheehan
Kachunga Baka/Doyle Dapo

Eight. But if you exclude the Sherpa Sh!tshow (he came on as sub in the first group game, sat out the second and started the last) he's started all but one game this season. Across all comps (even the runt one), only MJ has played more minutes, and then only 15 more.

In that case I'd worry about playing Dapo tonight too.

Are you going to tell him? I wouldn't want to.
He's just stated he loves being on T.V..

Not *that* one I don't think. It was my grandad's 80th so I missed it, and we watched it upstairs on his computer so I assume dodgy stream rather than TV.KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 10:47 amFa cup semi maybe? We did, I think, watch the one before, which I missed for his 70th birthday (which also didn't happen) on TV so that would be my starting point.
I have a sneaking feeling the Liverpool FA Cup replay, Matt Mills up front, might have been on BBC, though I watched it in a pub (I think with Crayons) so not sure.

I have no doubt he'll start, but match after match after match isn't good in any position - least of all on the wing.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:14 pmGhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:05 pmIn that case I'd worry about playing Dapo tonight too.

They'll have all the physical data, though, so it's the staff's call.

Whilst I'm conscious of not being too binary about this, I would say he has to start if we're taking this competition seriously.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:05 pmIn that case I'd worry about playing Dapo tonight too.
Also Tango actually makes a valid point there: is Evatt going to risk denying him the chance to shine in front of a national tv audience?

Is Evatt going to risk his own brand by not playing our strongest 11 on national TV? Probably not. I think in a battle between those two egos Evatt's would put Dapo's in the hospital.The_Gun wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:20 pmWhilst I'm conscious of not being too binary about this, I would say he has to start if we're taking this competition seriously.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 1:05 pmIn that case I'd worry about playing Dapo tonight too.

Personally and depending who is fit, I'd play: Dixon, Izzy, Santos, Aimson, Gordon, Williams, Sheehan, Thomason, Kachunga, Delf and Baka.
I expect to see the same team that beat Crewe.

Why would we rest someone? Don't see Liverpool historically resting Salah, Mane etc..
Strongest team, please.

Salah and Mane play fewer games over a season than a player would at this level if they played in all cup competitions, because they get rested for most stages of the domestic cups. Equally, Firmino does get rested, usually for Jota, as his fitness levels and needs are different.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:05 pmWhy would we rest someone? Like I say, the staff at the club will have the data from the players and make better determinations than I could sat here on my couch.
It may be that Dapo is ridiculously fit and his numbers are fine even playing 2 games a week.

We played 51 last season. Salah has played 51, 48, 52, 52, last 4 completed seasons. Firmino, 48, 52, 48, 54. Of course those are appearances, rather than did they play the full 90.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:14 pmSalah and Mane play fewer games over a season than a player would at this level if they played in all cup competitions, because they get rested for most stages of the domestic cups. If he's got a hat-trick by half-time, to add to a couple from Doyle/Baka, he can have the second half off...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:33 pmI sit corrected.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:28 pmWe played 51 last season.
