Having suffered the same fate with both shoulders, playing rugby, my experience was that the first time either popped out was pretty painful - typically not around the hard bone going back in, but around all the soft tissue damage/tendons/ligaments...this restricted movement/mobility in the joint significantly and first time, I was out for 4-8 weeks (can't recall exactly and was playing other sport well before 8 weeks).knobpolisher wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 8:57 amThis MJ dislocated shoulder business-- I have two rugby playing pals who have both suffered from recurring dislocated shoulders and they pop it back in and get on with it. Is this different ?
Subsequent occurrences got much easier as you get used to the mechanics of putting a dead weight arm (was surprised how heavy an unsupported arm is) back in its proper hole - hopefully not shattering the socket as it goes in. By the time I'd done a good few dislocations, it was getting to the point where "popping it back in" was much easier - but it took a good few to get there. They can do something wonderfully called a putti platt operation, but they told me that'd be me and rugby finished it'd be fairly useless in any event for around 6 months and cricket might be a no too. So I didn't bother...

It goes back to the original permission for the stadium IIRC - police advice given the extra travel involved with an out of town stadium and it’s location requiring a lot to travel on the M61, traffic delays being likely ergo an extra 15 minutes resulting in less rush / less accidents I think!KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:58 amNothing to do with the game, but why do our midweek home games always seem to kick off at 8 rather than 7.45? Is it something that we are obliged to do? Every other League One game bar ours is a 7.45 KO tonight.
I feel I may have asked this question many years ago but I've forgotten.

Yeah that and giving the residents of Horwich extra time to get home after work. We have of course had 7.45’s when competitions dictate.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:25 amIt goes back to the original permission for the stadium IIRC - police advice given the extra travel involved with an out of town stadium and it’s location requiring a lot to travel on the M61, traffic delays being likely ergo an extra 15 minutes resulting in less rush / less accidents I think!KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:58 amNothing to do with the game, but why do our midweek home games always seem to kick off at 8 rather than 7.45? I'd also read it was something the shops on Middlebrook wanted too, as they all can open until 8.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:25 amIt goes back to the original permission for the stadium IIRC - police advice given the extra travel involved with an out of town stadium and it’s location requiring a lot to travel on the M61, traffic delays being likely ergo an extra 15 minutes resulting in less rush / less accidents I think!KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:58 amNothing to do with the game, but why do our midweek home games always seem to kick off at 8 rather than 7.45? This suggests it's similar to what Dibs says, to have a bigger gap between rush hour and march traffic. Not sure why that would be special for us!

Different times… sold out attendances and regular decent away followings. I’ve never known why we haven’t sought to vary it - wonder if there is something in the agreements with other businesses on middle room, more likely to get people in spending beforehand than after obviously.

Might be a day to go 4-4-2 ish.
Gordon Santos Aimson Isgrove
John Lee Thomason Kachunga
Doyle Dapo
Dapo can play between a number 10 and a striker. John and Kachunga can tuck inside and we can play more like a narrow diamond used in the early days of Parky.
Leave the full backs the line.
I can’t see us playing Xav yet and think it’s about the most solid 11 we have available.

Time to start warming up for the fray. Who knows; if you catch Evatt's eye you might be playing...Off you go...what, 14 volunteer goal keepers?

TEAM NEWS
Two changes: Doyler and Gordon in for injured MJ and Baptiste
. .
Gordon at RB? or Izzy with Gordon LB and John LW?

Interesting.
I assume John is playing at left forward with Gordon behind him? I had suggested we might try that earlier in the season, so interested to see how it works out.

You would imagine John, Izzy and Gordon occupying RB, LB and LW in some way or other, aye.
What it certainly isn't is a back three. Johnston one of only six subs.

Dapo up top with Doyler, Kachunga RW? Possible. But has Evatt *ever* played a 4-4-2?

T’other way round at a guess (Dapo right with Kachunga up top).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 7:06 pmDapo up top with Doyler, Kachunga RW? Possible. But has Evatt *ever* played a 4-4-2?

Iles speculating (guessing, really) that it's Gordon in front of John in a 4-2-3-1. if the two left-backs do pair up down that side, I'm genuinely intrigued as to who plays in front of whom. Gordon played in midfield on loan but to me he still seems timid in the oppo half, while (as Pru noted) John appears to be much less keen to track back than forward.
If Donny sit in, in won't matter overly much, as they'll both press on - as will Izzy (if he's RB) and either Lee or Thommo. Just hope the latter two communicate and we don't leave ourselves in Dodoo doodoo....

Mitchell Henry's sixth successive game on the bench, by the way; Pettifer's fifth.
Mitchell Henry was born the month after that August in which we lost 4-0 at both Old Trafford and Fratton Park. I don't hold it against him.

I’ll place my wager on a 4-2-3-1 with Izzy, Santos, Aimson and Gordon making up the back four, Thomason and Lee the two CMs, Dapo at 10, John at LW, Kachunga at RW and Doyle up top.
Anyone’s guess though…

I'm just delighted Doyle is fit and playing. Get Izzy forward. Beyond that Que Sera Sera...
