A man on the back of a motorbike fired four shots at a car with a shotgun. They all missed, but he hit a house. The Bolton News described him as "a marksman"

Re: General Chit Chat
A bit of nostalgia to pass the time. Strikes chords with me as a dinosaur:
A poster on another site mentioned how Mars Bars used to be so big you had to take them home to cut in half and huge Waggon Wheels. Made me think of things that have disappeared now or become miniaturised: (I don't get out much now, mind.
Hedges Dolly Blue ..their factory was at the top of our street.
Lanry..super strong bleach but a wicked throat-grabbing smell.
Oxydol..washing powder
Vim...sink cleaner
Turog..brown bread that was as popular as Hovis.
Whimberryy pies...maybe they are still on sale but I never see them.
Cheese and onion snacks with a biscuit and a pickle sold in the pubs mainly.
Aniseed balls.
Roocrofts black treacle toffee..another factory that was nearby our house.
Milk Lollies...from the local school tuck shop.
Black Peas stalls..local Boy Scouts used to bring the round at night time.
Jubblies...
There are many more that escape me right this minute...

Neighbours across the road have ‘gifted’ us their massive inflatable snowman, almost half the size of our house after my kids admired it a few years back. Put it up yesterday and now wondering how many years we have to put it up each Christmas to not appear we are spurning their present. It’s not exactly unmissable!

I reckon at least 8 years, unless either of you move house!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 2:34 pmNeighbours across the road have ‘gifted’ us their massive inflatable snowman, almost half the size of our house after my kids admired it a few years back. It's a bit like the Norwegians gifting the UK a tree every year. It probably felt like a nice gesture the first few years after the war. 70 odd years later and neither country knows how to stop it now without upsetting the other!

Norwegians phoned that one in this year though!

Oh goody. In 8 years time the twins might be at university! Apparently their oldest child, who is at uni, came back home and wasn’t impressed they had given it away!Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 6:51 pmI reckon at least 8 years, unless either of you move house!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 2:34 pmNeighbours across the road have ‘gifted’ us their massive inflatable snowman, almost half the size of our house after my kids admired it a few years back. The Norway tree thing is strange isn’t it? Not like we can’t grow our own!

Having seen a pic of said snowman, it’d be a shame if the bricks holding it down went missing. Or one of the dogs had a bite of it.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 2:34 pmNeighbours across the road have ‘gifted’ us their massive inflatable snowman, almost half the size of our house after my kids admired it a few years back. Re: General Chit Chat
Looking after the lad's two young cats whilst he moves house; the female one had five kittens today (of course she would). She is called Penny, so I christened them Twopence, Threepence, Fourpence, Fivepence and Sixpence. That will, of course, be totally unacceptable..

Don't know what my lad will do (he's pet conscious-actually has a pet tarantula), but we're a wee bit old for the responsibility thanks. Like snow, pets are fine on pictures...Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 7:03 amAre you going to keep one?TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 11:30 pmWife took some, I'll try tomorrow.Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 10:58 pmAww Tango!
