Neither Aimson or Johnstone were good enough, so fine when it gets Gethin and Fossey in the team. But now we're back to the first half of last year. A shape that relies on wing backs where one is a right footed winger. And also means playing both of the two dodgy CBs, running MJ daft, and getting nothing out of Dapo.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 12:51 pmThis system has relied on the wingbacks performing well. Neither of our first choice wingbacks are fit and we've had to reorganise the back three and put a winger out wide as a result.

Not according to plan then? I don't care about players getting sent off against us scoring. Let's hope it's one of those Whites having a belting second half. Dad Bod for Kachunga?

Without John and Fossey the 5-3-2 is a complete failure. Evatt took too long to figure that out and make the switch. Wigan are not playing great but we gave away possession countless times. Several players struggled. Did not have a shot on goal all half. Hopefully playing 4 at the back and pushing Sadlier up top will bring more balance and possession with Morley sitting with Williams. I was disappointed Dempsey did not start. We need him in there. Wigan should now be playing with 10. The Ref bottled it in the end after having a decent game.

The gap between us and automatic promotion standard is more than a few tweaks. Anyone who denies this is living in cloud cuckoo land. Wigan are superior all over. You can’t deny this. And no excuses. We just need stronger, quicker players. If we hope to challenge next year.
Oh and Fossey streets ahead of any of the rest of our players and that’s obvious now.

We should be thanking our lucky stars we're only one goal down.
I'd bring Dempsey on for Kachunga, revert to a back four and play Sadlier and Dapo on the wing.

And we’ve left the big lads on the bench…Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 1:32 pmTwo weeks we've had and our cunning plan has been punt it to the big lads? Not at the races. Aimson might be used as a training video.

Na, it's fine. Wigan are the best side in the division and we've lost key players.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 1:31 pmThe gap between us and automatic promotion standard is more than a few tweaks. Huge amount of work needs to be done at the back. We need to do a bit in midfield and I'd like to see if we can get someone in up top who terrifies defenders. It's not like previous windows, though, where you can do loads of work and still end up with dross. If we do heavy work we'll be very good. If we do average work well still have a chance at it.

Dunno why commentators are surprised McLean came back out, the fact he's still on the pitch tells you how likely this ref is to issue a red.

What a boring game this has ended up. For a local derby its really falling flat this second half.

what's the shape with the subs now? Can't watch the game today

Don't think its to anyones advantage. Think its just nullified the game.
Looks 2 up top, 3 at the back with 2 wide, rest in centre of pitch. Much better pressure coming into the last 20 minutesJim_McDonuts wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 2:01 pmwhat's the shape with the subs now? Can't watch the game today

Compare the first twenty minutes to now. In both fixtures they started fast and we crumpled under the pressure.
