Stand by to repel boarders. V Portsmouth at home, Tues 05-04 22. 8 O'clock.

Would defo have an eye on at least half an hour off the bench for him for Gethin, serves two purposes.

Going to be a wet affair as it's mainly rain forecast for today. I'm thinking (hoping) Charles may be a bit eager to get back to speed, maybe even score, but more than all, we don't give any more soft goals away. Surely even the most optimistic manager in any division can see where our faults lie, and how many points have gone to waste from that one fact alone. Without the win factor, what is the point of any competitive sport? I can't, and don't share Insaney's view that losing is ever acceptable as an attitude. Sure, we'll lose some, but that's happenstance. Fight the good fight.

Dempsey, Sadlier and Morley (along with Jon Dad-Bod of course) are effectively still the new kids on the block and have to step up and prove Evatt's faith in his selections. We've had some tough luck with injuries, John, Fossey, Ameich etc,but so have others. Let's be positive and get in there and win tonight.. Saturday will almost certainly be a whole lot tougher.

COME ON YOU WHITES...! . :oyea: :oyea: :oyea:

Amen. ae:)

Said before that I suspect playing LWB for us and Rotherham are two different propositions. I don't think Sadlier's going to complain, especially short-term. Whether he's a good fit there is a different matter, but I don't worry that he'll Slap In A Transfer Request.

I can see the idea of switching to a four, and (partly) resting Gethin for Senior.

feck 'em, chuck the kids/stiffs in (not Baptiste though), play around with the formation, try players in other positions - wherever Evatt sees fit. Balls to this 'we owe it to other clubs in the division' nonsense, no we don't.
Mid table mission accomplished so let's start gearing up for next season.

Two clubs in 10th and 11th, both 11 points behind the play-offs (which are at an uncatchably blistering pace) and 14pts clear of relegation. In some ways it could barely get *more* mid-table irrelevant than tonight.

Of course, they could win their games in hand, win every game left, etc. But considering they haven't scored in three games, I think we can safely say they won't be needing the open-topped bus.

I'm not getting giddy, could be a 3 with Sadlier at RWB.

My hopes for *this* game rest on Sadlier walking out of the tunnel and lining up sort of in the middle.

Could be 352, could be 4231, could be 442.

Be a bit surprised if it wasn't one of the latter two, tbf. Can't see him playing 1RB, 3LB's and a CD... :-)

Well, there's a theory that the best back threes aren't made of three centre-backs - indeed, they can be somewhat cumbersome if so. As long as they're not midgets, full-backs can play the outside roles. Venables used G-Nev and Pearce in there during Euro 96 (although not necessarily simultaneously).

Oh, I get that mate, but have any of Sads, John or liability got a right leg? Had it been 2RB, 2LB and Santos I might have been just about able to envision it (although not necessarily favour the notion)

I expect it to be a 3-5-2 with Sadlier at right-wing-back, which is frustrating as I'd really prefer him starting further up the pitch.

I'm interested to see a how Morley-Dempsey midfield pairing gets on, though.

Sadlier is right footed! (I think). Think he's basically two footed, hence he's played a lot at LWB but he played RWB against Crewe, and took the free kick with his right.

I'm not there tonight. Hopefully we play up, regardless of formation.

Lets treat this as though we've got something left to play for this season. Don't want this game to be a dead rubber for us. Pompey will still see this as a must win.

Lets go full strength and try and win this.

4: Gethin-Santos-Johnstone-John

Could be either.
