The Penultimate Furlong, V Cheltenham away Sat 21st April. 3-0'clock
Robin's twittering happily away at the Jonny - Rocks Stadium as the Whites's roadshow rolls into Cheltenham one game away from the finish line. Best known for blazing saddles and a yearly festival, Cheltenham will no doubt want to upset our apple-cart despite only pride at stake. We, meanwhile, should take no chances of falling at the last few fences and be more merciless than a BetFred bookmaker's odds. Can we dish out that long-awaited hammering and gallop homewards? Another 3-1 would do nicely (although a clean sheet just perfect). Have at it ..

They've only lost one of their last ten home games, I think.
Obviously we are going to batter them.

Yeah - when I was suggesting we really needed to win at least 3 or the last 4 to give us comfort Top 6 wasn't out of reach, this was the one that I wasn't "banking on"....Wasn't last year's away win, one where we were up against it for 90 minutes and scored near the end?

So you're saying we'll batter them 1-1?

Read that. Good news if he's fully fit, under starters orders and he claims he's raring to go. With him, Sheean, Ricardo, Foss and Isgrove all injured we've done well to cope. Shows the strength of our squad.

Hard to see him starting right off, but if he does then that's great. As I said in another thread we've had an issue all season with putting out our best 11. We need to get these lads fit over the summer and through preseason. Any side needs to be able to get their best players playing most games. Getting Dempsey more minutes and bedding him into the side could be really important come next season.
More than half our first team squad have had pretty nasty injury issues. That can't happen next term if we want to go up.

Think I also read Evatt saying Dempsey wouldn't line up at the off, but would figure later. A case of trust the boss here, because it's the player stating he's fully (almost?) fit.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:09 pmHard to see him starting right off, but if he does then that's great.

If you were hoping for a break from shit referees todays is Neil Hair who was the absolute nob jockey who we had at Tranmere last season. Sent Delaney and Evatt off (rescinded), failed to send a Tranmere player off for bringing our ex captain down early on.

Yes. But he's probably still not the worst.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:26 amIf you were hoping for a break from shit referees todays is Neil Hair who was the absolute nob jockey who we had at Tranmere last season. Is that lad who ran the game at our place, but who was on a short term deal, still playing for this lot?

Mrs G and I trying to remember who that was. He was outstanding for them that day. No idea where he is now though, or what he's called!officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 12:31 pmIs that lad who ran the game at our place, but who was on a short term deal, still playing for this lot?

Not disappointed he's not playing. Both he and Alfie May had good games at our gaff if memory serves. Mind it took me a while to work out they were two different players

Aye, that's him. Wonder what his status is this summer?
Just hearing over the tannoy that unsurprisingly Alfie May has swept the board in all their player of the year awards.
