The accounts I've been given all have it have Dempsey came on and changed the game. Any dissenting opinions?

Two clubs can still catch Morecambe and Fleetwood have a game in hand.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:20 pmMorecambe look safe, Fleetwood want relegating next weekend. Come on!
If Fleetwood beat Sheff Weds they can lose to us and still relegate Morecambe.
Though the dream is still that Fleetwood and Morecambe both go down and Gills stay up.

He didn't do it single-handedly, but his proactive style set the tone. So did Bod, snapping away up top like a tall Dion.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:20 pmThe accounts I've been given all have it have Dempsey came on and changed the game. Any dissenting opinions?

Dempsey played very well when he came on but I'd say it's over stated to say that alone changed the game. Morley was excellent, Dapo ran them ragged and Bakayoko gave them a different problem to worry about when he replaced Charles.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:20 pmThe accounts I've been given all have it have Dempsey came on and changed the game. They all just wanted it a bit more. I know that sounds reductive but first half both teams played like they were half on the beach. Second, we didn't. It was enough.

Same as recent, I'd say. Still ratting about but doesn't look productive in front of goal. Short on confidence. Fired a couple of shots off but nothing's quite falling for him at the mo.

Is sadlier one of this players who is going to split opinion? Some will say he doesn’t do enough but he’ll bag 10 from midfield?

Shame for the lad. I'll have to give it a watch, as my main issue recently hasn't been his lack of goals. I've been worried about him not making space for players around him.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:50 pmSame as recent, I'd say. Baka is banging them in and he apparently "divides opinion"...officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:57 pmIs sadlier one of this players who is going to split opinion? Some will say he doesn’t do enough but he’ll bag 10 from midfield?
As with Baka, I think Sadlier works hard enough that he's worth having around if he puts the ball in the net. I'm not sure he has the vision you might like in his position(s) and that may lead to some moaning.

I’m thinking he’s got 4 goals, a couple of which have been very smart indeed…and he’s gonna get us goals where others (cough Keiron Lee) haven’t. Might be key next year even if he does a fair bit from the bench.

He must be a nightmare to play against, never giving the defenders a moments peace. Worked his socks off again today but he's a striker and he needs a goal.

Great question. Lots of people raving, and I'm not against but. I'm not sure he can change a game vs add to a game. I think he can do the latter, but I don't see him taking an adversial game and moving the momentum at the moment.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 9:57 pmIs sadlier one of this players who is going to split opinion? He's not quick. So he relies on others. Good player but needs someone to bounce things off. The shoots are there with Dapo and Bod.
But I think he's a fab footballer. Can't defend for shit, like doesn't get it, so looks like he's not arsed going that way which I don't think is true. Big part of our fan base demands run yourself silly and fly into things. Which I'm not against, but you don't need eleven of them.
I think he'll play a big part next year.

The good news is United paid £70m for Harry Maguire. Couldn’t defend himself in a Greek Court case. Thank fcuk we don't need defenders anymore....

Sadlier is one you need to play in areas he can get chances from because he will score goals. He isn’t the best in general play, nor bad but he just looks like he has goals in him.

MJ has a broken hand, probably out for Fleetwood.

Shame for MJ to get another freak injury, but it sets the stage for Dempsey. It's the midfield I'd have wanted to see anyway.

Yeah. If Dempsey-Morley behind (TBC) is the midfield shape for next season except against the sort of strong opponents requiring the MJ safety belt, then Fleetwood at home surely counts as the sort of game they'd be expected to boss without him.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 4:56 pmShame for MJ to get another freak injury, but it sets the stage for Dempsey.
