I don't know more than I did a week ago, but the fact BWFC don't either would seem to indicate that him showing up on a 4+ year deal is still in the realm of the possible. Dare to dream and all that.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 1:46 pmTrafford is discussing his contract situation with City before (hopefully) coming back here.
I wonder what odds you'd get on him coming here on a long term deal with buy-back and sell-on clauses for City.

Sort of. Everything after "I think we're trying to get him back" is opinion. Clearly we are entirely dependent on what City want to do with him – and hopeful that (1) he'll want to come back and (2) they'll care.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 11:42 amThings hopefully progressing well on the Trafford front?

Maybe I'm jumping the gun.
Just, my interpretation is that from 'Trafford's discussing his situation with City' to 'The two clubs are in discussions with each other' as per the MEN piece, is one of positive progress. Hopefully.

Entirely understandable mate. It's quiet, and we all hope he comes back.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 1:14 pmMaybe I'm jumping the gun.

Hull release Tom Eaves. The reunion is on!!
Also club captain Richard Smallwood, if we want an experienced defensive midfielder, albeit one who missed much of this season with an injury.

Reminds of a story I read about a couple named Peacock, who christened their son 'Drew'.

Just so long as that reunion takes place at Queens Park, Glasgow, that'll be fine

There was a copper around the Bacup area years ago who was known as "Inspector Jockstrap" because his name was Richard Holder.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 7:35 pm

Many, many years ago, I worked at a jobcentre in Sheffield. Amongst our claimants was Fanny Wragg, Rachel Su Kin Kok and a chap called David Balls who had a daughter, Ophelia.

I have a friend from South Africa called Anel Kloppers.
She doesn't think it's funny.

One of my best friends at school had a cousin called Chris Peacock. His brother unfortunately was Rob not Drew.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 7:35 pm

There’s a plaque at Westhoughton sports centre saying that Chris Peacock opened it. Think he may have been a councillor. Don’t know him but I know his brother Lou.

Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
Iles has today name-checked Ayoub Assal and Tom Barkhuizen, which he doesn't often do unless he has some reason to believe we're interested.
Barky makes loads of sense to me, but I suspect he'd be the end of Izzy (that's unless IE sees him as a striker).
Assal is one of the three Wombles who we've known for over a year interest Evatt and he looks the most attainable - with Hartigan and Rudoni both having Championship suitors. Assal is also a natural replacement for Amaechi, but someone who is more comfortable as a #10 than Xav was.
It's of course possible Iles is just repeating Twitter gossip, but I think we're probably now at the "no smoke without fire" stage.

Agree that Iles is unlikely to be reporting internet tittle tattle at this point. Assal has two years left to run on his contract:

But, he's only 20 - does that matter in terms of a transfer fee?

Yes. Clubs are entitled to compensation if they offer a contract to a player they developed, he refuses and goes elsewhere - even at the end of his contract.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 8:57 amAgree that Iles is unlikely to be reporting internet tittle tattle at this point. During the contract, they would be entitled to ask a fee for his registration, as they would for any player.
I'm not quite sure what "developed" counts as - eg, what if he moved from one academy to another in his teens, like many young players cut by the funnelling process (or conversely snapped up by a bigger fish) - but Assal has been a Don since 12 so I think we can say he's their product.
As a side note, Assal was born in January 2002, so he wouldn't count against the overage-outfielder quotient for 2022/23 or even 2023/24.

Great. Thanks, DSB. Despite his young age, he made 42 appearances (scored eight) for the Dons last season; as far as I can tell, most of them were starts.
