Paddle boarding on a local reservoir this weekend. Looking forward to it though I’ve never done it before. Should be fun.

Would it be pedantic of me to point out this is a) not tonight and b) a sporting endeavour and therefore belongs in the sporty type thread? That way I won't be the only one (seemingly) engaging in 'activity'?Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:43 pmPaddle boarding on a local reservoir this weekend. If it is pedantic........forget I said anything.

Ok, well tonight I am going to the pub, Mr Pedantic. Doesn’t make me sound quite so exotic and exciting though does it?!Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 4:26 pmWould it be pedantic of me to point out this is a) not tonight and b) a sporting endeavour and therefore belongs in the sporty type thread? Besides, you’re only watching the Ironman. That’s like me putting on there I’m off to watch Arsenal. Doesn’t count apparently!

Secondary school in the case of my twins today, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Last night, Arcade Fire at the Nynex were without a shadow of a doubt one of the finest live bands I've ever seen.
Usually, the fact that a band is playing the arena is enough to put me off going, and last night it took the sound engineers at least 3 songs to get on top of the echo and sort the levels out, but they did.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
This isn't a gig I went to, nor would I, to see a man who's somehow earned a sumptuous living as a singer whilst being spectacularly unable to sing a bloody note.
Ian Brown has always been carried by surrounding himself with some very decent musicians, however, last night he played a gig in Leeds to backing tapes, a karaoke if you will, with disastrous consequences.
Have a listen.

Gotta admire his chutzpah. Tom Hingley played one of our local watering holes on Saturday. At least he bought his own guitar!

Apparently, Francis Dunnery from It Bites will come and play at your house if you like.

How was it? Saw a few videos on the old Insta. Looked banging. After a couple of "fines" I really loved the most recent album. Haven't seen much good "covid art " ( ) but that was pretty bang on for me
Did you get to see Dave Hause on his most recent tour? I didn't know it was happening until too late and then missed it.

I enjoyed it, particularly the beginning and end. Bit of a lull in the middle with stuff I didn't know as well.Prufrock wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 12:09 amHow was it? Saw a few videos on the old Insta. Missed Hause as well. Last time was the church gig that you were at.
Not much pencilled in now, other than a Fleetwood Mac tribute and pub gigs. Big one in May when I finally get to see Bruce Springsteen at Villa Park.

First Rod Hull, then Angela Raynor and now The Boss. All dissed in the last fortnight. Are you being deliberately contrarian Rioja?!!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 9:05 amWell, he can't fecking sing for oneLeverEnd wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 8:08 pmWhat was wrong?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 6:06 pmInteresting one LE. I'd love to see Springsteen but ticket prices were ridiculous in the days when everyone else wasn't charging a kings ransom. Can't imagine how much they charge now. I'm curious too, as to why you'd leave after just an hour Worthy

Re: Where are you going tonight?
He's actually got a) quite a lot of songs a lot of folks know and b) a huge catalogue of songs that unless you have all 43 albums, you might not know very well. Especially if your last dip into an album was Born in the USA. Could've been happenstance. Seats weren't very good and was sat on end of row, so up n down every 5 mins. Long way away without and side of stage projection. Oh and my feet were killing me in a new pair of boots and I was on a promise.
