Not sure you're getting a Monet for £1.5m
Or that Jamie Vardy owns one at any price. Dogs playing snooker maybe

Re works of art, I watched the documentary programme on T.V last night where Two Turners valued at 20 mill disappeared for 8 years after being stolen while on loan to Germany. They never caught the thief although we got the Turners back at a cost of 3.5 mil ransom. Interesting programme though

"Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama"Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 3:43 pmYeah - I nearly jumped in to correct that, when I read it back, but thought actually it sorta fits..
Reputed title of a series of planned documentaries by Channel 4 (and others). Are we really that short of ideas for something to watch, or are the T.V companies just cashing in on the nation's gullibility? As a serious court drama it will have the credibility of a Benny Hill extravaganza or Monty Python lives....

Re: General Chit Chat
Just harking back to art for a moment, I've been reading up on a painting attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci titled Salvatori Mundi (Saviour of the World). This, the most expensive painting ever sold, went in auction about five years ago, for 450 million dollars, reputedly to a crown prince of Saudi Arabia. It hasn't been seen since despite rumours of its location. (Latest rumours are that it is in storage in Switzerland.)
Apropos of not much in a crazy world: Apart from the unbelievable seeming lunacy of a piece of canvas just over a couple of feet on its longest sides being bought by a sum that could feed millions, the strange thing is that the painting, a depiction of Jesus Christ as Saviour of the World, was bought (apparently) by a Prince whose official religion is Islam.

Re: General Chit Chat
Here's a question I've kept out of the "serious" ahem, political thread. It is this:
If our current political candidates had to vote individually on who would win " Strictly Come Dancing" would they cast their votes for:
A, the best dancer,
B, the best looking or sexually attractive male/female, best gym body or female with the nicest legs etc,
C, the best entertainment based on T.V or media favourites,
D, the no hoper just to take a wipe at public opinion in general?
E, Couldn't care less as they'll be watching Question time in Parliament, or such.
F, I'll watch it but don't tell anyone.
The question might have a bit of a sneaky agenda in defining taste, but is mainly to prove different ideas of worth.

I’d hope none of them are sad or desperate enough to watch it let alone waste their money and time voting.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 11:06 amHere's a question I've kept out of the "serious" ahem, political thread. It is this:

Does anyone actually watch this stuff anymore? I genuinely didn’t know it was still going.

I’ve not watched live Tv on a Saturday night now for years. Guess that’s what happens when you have so much choice with Netflix or other services. Had no idea strictly was still going.

I cannot believe the number of more than likely 'gamers' who think we could carry out a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Russia They don't realise the reality is a slice of bread in a toaster has a better chance of survival!
Still at least they won't have to watch Strictly
