Yeah, listening to Evatt's post match, glad we've signed a defender!
Re: Pre-season 2023-24
I'm sure we ended up with an injury in pre-season, either last year or the year before. The Chungy one is the one that sticks in my mind, but I know we've had one thats been more recent. Can anyone remember, i'm fairly confident it may have been against Barrow?
Either way i'm happy we've been playing these types of teams. They've got more than enough quality to know how to tackle properly, I suspect its more trying to impress than get run ragged.
I've heard the trialist keeper for Bamber Bridge looked decent today? Worth keeping an eye on perhaps?

I'd recommend catching the U21 Final highlights. James Trafford being every bit the hero we know he is!

Saved a 99th min pen for Spain enabling England to lift the trophy. The 1-0 win means Traff didn't concede a single goal all tournament. Could we get him for, say, £15m with add ons?

Spoiler alert lol
He did get beat by a headed effort that was disallowed.
Last time we won that competition was in 1984, so it's been a while. No keeper has ever kept that many clean sheets in the tournament. The last one to go without conceding was 1998 when Arnau had 3 clean sheets (out of 3). So record breaking performance from Trafford in front of Southgate. Get him in that England squad godammit!

And to think there were bolton fans (not many but a few) who criticised Trafford last season. He’s the best keeper we will ever have (have not had) and it won’t be close.
For his age easily the best I’ve seen live.
Superb.
A massive miss for next season - Baxter no doubt is talented but he ain’t Trafford.

As soon as he went down you could see it was a really bad one. He looked like he was nearly sick at one stage as he spat (not a spelling error, he was heaving and spitting) on the grass and tried to keep his knee from moving.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 6:14 pmYeah, listening to Evatt's post match, glad we've signed a defender!
The only positive is Iredale and Forrester looked excellent - Iredale especially.
When the player goes off and then additional medical staff get called in over the radio you know it's not good. Gutted for him and us.

He's not even the best I've seen in a Bolton shirt, never mind the best we will ever have.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:10 pmHe’s the best keeper we will ever have (have not had) and it won’t be close.
For his age he's superb and he will be an amazing goalkeeper, but you've massively overshot there.
If you mean he will one day be a better keeper than any keeper who has played for Bolton, that's a different claim. He certainly not the best to ever wear the shirt.

Though at 20 he’s in a different stratosphere to Jussi when he joined Bolton and Jussi was 22.

Re: Pre-season 2023-24
Hyperbole alert.
Traff's fantastic. I wouldn't be surprised if he did have an England cap by the end of the season. And I'm thrilled that Wanderers will always have a claim on him for helping him up that ladder.
He is certainly the best keeper we could have had last season. There were, and are, better keepers out there, but none that were available to us.
However, it's simply too difficult to compare Traff to the last "destined for the top" keeper we had, Jussi. We're talking 25 years apart, and entirely different leagues in which their craft was learned. Not to mention that the team played the game in two very different ways.
I'm excited by Baxter, if Ghost's scout reports are anythimg to go by.

Better keepers out there? Sorry but it’s time to name names. Traf is going for £19M. Which keeper would go for more money we could realistically sign?truewhite15 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:48 pmHyperbole alert.

Trafford was the best keeper in this league last season. By almost every stat going.
He’s leagues above any keeper we will have this season and beyond. It’s why he’s costing so much money. Money you could buy and sell our whole club for.

I think I was fairly clear. He was the best keeper available to us. There are dozens of keepers across the world who are better, but they weren't available to us. Ederson. Keylor Navas. Ramsdale. Lloris.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:51 pmBetter keepers out there? Sorry but it’s time to name names. Traf is going for £19M. Not sure how we’ve jumped to the idea I claimed he was best in the world? He’s just the best we will see here for a very long time probably until we are all gone.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 8:53 pmI think I was fairly clear. He was the best keeper available to us. Wow, what a moment for Traff. Proud that our club helped put him in this position.
