I love him and I hope he has a fulfilling life. A Championship footballer, he ain't.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 8:36 pmYup. That's where I'm at. Just wanted to get in there with some positive praise for.him before the usual.diafribe of shit comes his way.
Also noticeable how close he seems with the rest of the team - not unlike our 37 year old, seems a good egg to have around the team.
I'd love him to be a 20 goal a season striker, but to be honest we don't need him to be, we've got 2 already in Collins and Charles...

In a weirdly double negative way, I hope we get the chance to find out that he isn't a championship striker (if you know what I mean ..)

The win today puts us on the same points as Parkys promotion tally.
One more win and it's the best point haul in 27 years.

Just noticed Burton are pretty much safe. Honestly this division is a fecking nightmare next season! Got to win the play offs!

Take a look at the build up to the second goal again. Pivotal at bringing in Williams in with an outside of the right foot pass.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 5:19 pmI don’t know what you were watching but I admire the optimism.dave the minion wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 5:03 pmEvery credit to big Dan - looked good when he came on

Some of the football yesterday was absolutely beautiful. Interesting what a win does to the lens tint of Evatt’s tenure. Under him, we have looked as technically superb as I remember a Bolton team. So entertaining. He deserves so much credit for that.
Wasteful in front of goal, again, but Collins is in fine form for the play-offs. Keep the faith.

We need to get a finishing coach or something though. Never seen a side miss so many sitters.

Can we get a good luck coach as well do you think?
I know there's a strong argument for making your own luck and all that, and we can be very profligate in front of goal, but it also seems like we never get the benefit of the random bounce or deflection and ost 50:50s end up going against us!!!

We're still not giving much credit to the opposition (discounting their fouling, play-acting, time wasting and general bad attitudes) because some of their football was quite tidy. One thing that stands out in all games is the fear of tackling in the box because the oppos go after penalty claims like hungry dogs after a sausage. In their boxes they go for total blockage, something we don't do as we show players around like usherettes at a film theatre, but even they are wary of the dreaded spot kick whistle. Football has gone daft these days with handballs and unchecked blatant fouls, but that's unfortunately a way of life now.
It's a sad thing to admit, but referees win and lose games for teams far too often and little seems to ever be done about it. Strange there's always a liner on the spot when Bolton are called offside. Ah well, Que Sera.

First game in ages I haven’t been able to watch, but sounds like more of the same from us.
Was Charles any better?

Livelier, but still able to shoot and head sideways. We could easily have had 5-0.

Easy to say that, but it's actually much more difficult than it appears to finish that. The bounce of Charles is what makes it. From that point, it's a footrace between Collins and their keeper. He's got to knock it, at pace, at an acute angle, under the charging keeper. Don't think it's a howler.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 5:05 pmThe one with the post is unbelievable! We woul have some compilation of misses this season.

Part of me says "that's our season" we could've won 4, 5 or 6. Yesterday. But when it really counts..officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 6:47 pmDidn’t say it was a howler, just one of them I can’t believe it didn’t go in!
