Biden is better than Trump. Anyone is better than Trump. But the problem is the democrats have messed this up completely so Trump can now not be beaten. And all that means for democracy and the world is so chilling it’s horrendous.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 5:43 pm^^ Moan, moan, moan.... They have well and truly shit the bed.
Tough sell blaming Starmer, mind.

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
Biden is better than Trump is fine as your opinion, mate, but there was't a huge amount of clear water in the popular vote (in the US the dems often win the popular vote, even if the GOP win a landslide. Clinton got more votes than Trump but got mullered in the electoral collage). I think there's more than enough in Biden's performance to show he's not with it. Trump ain't much better on that front, but to get the nation to focus on that, they can't prop up Biden.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 7:14 pmBiden is better than Trump. I'm really disgusted by Biden. His priority is clearly him competing vs possibility of his party winning. That looks like very poor judgement...

Biden dead and buried 6ft under the ground would still be a better choice for president.
Thats not to say he should be standing. He’s been a very good president and had a huge political career but clearly should not be standing. Especially when the alternative is as appalling as Trump.

Aye. There's not another reality where Trump would get my vote, mate...If I was in a Biden safe seat, he wouldn't get it either.

Ah well, little point in looking to retire away from the crime ridden rat race to the countryside now is there?
Mind there's some stonking value houses up the North of Scotland, main problem there is a thirty mile round trip in many cases to the big supermarkets.
The wife would insist I had to go with her to load the car

I think she is in a better place than Biden and neither are going to sway core Reps/MAGA.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 10:45 amMore chance that you win the presidency than Kamala worthy!Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 1:09 pmKamala, Leader of the Free World. I think Dems she'll solidify what was becoming absolutely ruptured, but that might just get more in places she's strong. They should probably have gone to beauty parade but Biden was over-long reaching the inevitable conclusion. Barack was probably seeing if Michelle could have a swing and the answer was probably Mike Kelly.
They're going to need to convince undecided's in the rust belt. I think she or Obama would have their work cut out as non-white women - sad but likely not unfounded. Buttegieg and Newsom probably the same problem for different reasons...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
I think Michelle Obama was realistically their only hope. She had the ability to galvanise a vote. Like you say I’d still worry about those swing states but I think she’d have just about swung it through her stature and the fact she’s massively respected in many critical communities.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 12:14 pmI think she is in a better place than Biden and neither are going to sway core Reps/MAGA.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 10:45 amMore chance that you win the presidency than Kamala worthy!Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 1:09 pmKamala, Leader of the Free World. Harris I think has sweet FA chance. She’s a black woman and from California. That’s just about every negative in the eyes of the rust belt in one candidate.

Ah, ah, ah, ah.
Not quite stopped laughing about labours £85 billion company not actually producing any electricity, didn't tell you that did the little bacon butty oddlooking nut job?
Pounds for the pals of Greta.
Meanwhile a mysterious £20 billion black hole is expected to be announced after Robot Reeves pays off the public sector unions.
There goes the hidden tax rises and given the extra money to the already overweight ward waddler is hardly going to cut waiting times.
All brought to you by Biden is on top form Starmer.

I think we might need a clampdown on people who don't use English as their primary language.

The Brexit babies were such a disaster that the black hole is even bigger than £20Bn.Hoboh wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:03 amAh, ah, ah, ah.

I guess that we all know the outcome of your politics now. The country knows. Disaster, failure and misery. On that the verdict is well and truly in.

I think it must be Aquarius time. I hardly recognise where I live now. What used to be semi-detached houses with garden, hedges, lawns and driveways now looks like Lego Land. Another ten years of Bolton Council and we'll be the next Lyme Regis.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Centre right! More woke than the students union in Bristol. Never stopped to wonder why, other than cash handouts, there is an awful, growing discontent across Europe with the institution?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 6:01 pmThe EU are a centre right institution. Common Market, yes
Federal Republic of Europe, no, as for the stupid 'rights' propping it up, definitely not, illegals are illegals no matter which way you dress it up.

You know that there are no illegal asylum seekers don’t you? And that’s by international law - nothing to do with the EU.Hoboh wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 10:20 amCentre right! Your definition of commies is very odd. The EU is a free market pro competition organisation. The principles of it are built squarely on centre right free trade. I don’t recall many commies being keen on that. But maybe the Soviet’s were big on free open markets in the 70’s and we just all forgot?
Commies don’t tend to be particularly ‘woke’ either - remember the gulags?

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
The EU is whatever the governments of the member countries collectively decide it is. You've been listening to Farage for too long and believe the European Commission is the EU. Successive UK governments have conveniently blamed loads of stuff on the EU that was simply not true, but it was easier than accepting their own role in problems. Immigration being the most obvious. Prior to 2016 it was all the EU's fault. Now that it has gotten significantly worse it is still somebody else's fault.
For clarity, the Commission is the civil service, whose head is appointed by the governments of the countries in the EU. They propose and implement stuff. The parliament (voted for by EU citizens) vote on stuff to become legislation. The European council is representatives of the governments of EU countries and nowt much happens without them and the parliament agreeing to it. On top of that you have various intuitions set up to manage specific areas that need expert knowledge. I used to work for one of them which was the European Medicines Agency. We ultimately reported to the European Commission. I could explain how that works but I suspect you're not interested as it wont suit your rantings Hoboh. If anyone is interested I'm happy to explain the value of it over our current situation.
Ultimately the EU is more democratic and accountable than what we have in the UK. Whether it leans left or right is down to the countries in the EU as they are appointing the people that run it and give it the direction of travel. It isn't without its problems, and I found it a frustrating place to work at times, but it's goals were laudable and it achieved a lot of good.
