I've never been eligible to claim pension credits, always being within a few shekels away from what the I.R claim I need to live on, and for reasons best known to themselves, the said Inland Revenue send a tax demand every year. Despite paying up annually I always owe them money? In short, I get taxed for not claiming money? They've taken our "free" T.V licences back and now they'll no doubt want more from a Brit born 85 year old who retired from full time work at 70 having always paid tax and insurance and now totters about on a Zimmer frame. Not expecting a response on open forum (or privately), TD, but it might be worth ringing Citizens Advice to check that you're getting any / all other benefits you might be entitled to, attendance allowance and the like.
