Another decent performance across the first innings. Carse picking up wickets and Atkinson.

Expanding on Carse/Atkinson. Read an interesting article about quicks/medium quicks. We used to look for averages in County Championship, but often, they're on slower softer off centre square tracks and the main focus is controlling scoreboard pace. Obviously a few with very noticable pace get spotted but they're not necessarily the best at strike bowling, dead centre of the square, on a hard as rock track. Think with Carse, his CC average, you'd be delighted if it was your batting average. So they've identified he might have the attributes of a test bowler, rather than the best average of a CC bowler.

Good wrap up for a comprehensive win. Yet another ton for Joe. Watched Atkinson's hat trick, the first and second balls were brilliant.

Yeah a top and somewhat surprising series win. Not sure many had us down to batter NZ on their own patch.

Feel NZ were a bit out of sorts but can’t take away from our performance which was stellar.

I’d say it probably reinforces the fact that for all we bemoan our batting it’s probably the bowling that matters. This looked a fantastic attack on their pitches. And theirs looked a bit sorry. On spinning pitches though we have a less threatening attack than many. And in Australia their bowlers likely to be that bit more dangerous than ours.

Shame the next ashes isn’t here as I feel we’d be building to that quite nicely.

I'm marginally more upbeat about the Ashes as a result, tbf. I'm not now sat here thinking there's nothing in the bowling locker...

Yeah we have the bones of an attack on those pitches. But still feels like they have a better one.

Great knock from Duckett with decent back-up from Rooty. Got something to bowl at, there.

Hmmmmmm….felt a bit short to me on a road and proved thus.

We aren’t very good at ODIs right now sadly.

Yeah we'd have certainly wanted more, but you bowl real well at 350, it's still 7 an over even if a bit light for the track. Given our form as you say, was better than 240!

Lanky are a bit of a comedy of errors right now. Let the oppo go from 67-6 to 240 then contrived to go from 187-4 to 280. Sure a lead, but sheesh. They seem to be streaming the Rothesay County Championship on youtube at the momenf for anyone interested...

All County Championship matches have been streamed live on YouTube and the ECB website for quite some time now.

It's quite handy for passing half an hour or so.

What’s the business about it being 4 days? I mean it could be over in 4 but still - why can’t it be normal?
