Forrester may or may not be back for Burton; we'll decide tomorrow.
Rico back training with the group but "we're going to have to keep building him up over the next few weeks."

George Johnston will miss the Stockport game.
Kyle Dempsey, Ricardo Santos and Kion Etete all took part in a full, "really high-intensity" [Schumacher] training session. They might take part in a B team game scheduled for next weekend, when we're on the international break (but games that do go ahead include Wrexham-Stockport and Posh-Charlton).

Oh dear. Dempsey is definitely one we need to move on now - obvs can’t if injured. But he’s a busted flush now. More time injured than playing.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 3:36 pmBuried in a tweet reply, Iles reveals Dempsey is out for "a few months".

Yeah, sadly. Not sure in terms of time, but an Ilesy piece last night said he’d started 81 of a possible 194 games since his debut.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 3:53 pmOh dear. I'll confess I'd forgotten about Demps when I was looking into our current 11 and back ups the other day. That's probably why though - he's spent the vast majority of the last two years out injured. When he's not crocked, he's got a good engine and he's good on the ball. But he just can't stay fit.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 4:37 pmYeah, sadly. I like Dempsey, he has guts and gives us some drive, something we've often needed being a goal down when he's come on as a sub.
But.......no room for sentiment, he's a continual sick note. Id be tempted to deregister, then ship him out on loan in January, if he's fit again. Presumably, vwe can do that within the rules?

Perfectly legal. You can contract and pay as many players as you like; up to you how many you don't bother to register per competition.Bijou Bob wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 9:49 amI like Dempsey, he has guts and gives us some drive, something we've often needed being a goal down when he's come on as a sub.

That said, Ilesy's morning piece:
• says Demps is "out of action until September" (Schuey said "out for a few months")
• quotes Schumacher on Adeboyejo "we'll probably see him October-November time"
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... re-season/
The piece goes into Schumacher's determination to have a more robust squad; we've heard that before but maybe the new brooms will work differently.

Toal, Vic also pretty high on the injury prone index...
What I might suggest given the fact we've not just shipped Dan (and I don't suspect he's the highest paid player), is that we're not looking to pay our way out of cutting losses...

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
Before last season, Toal wasn't a "niggly absence" kinda guy.
His first injury absence was after the Cosgrove assault on his ankle (Apr 2023) - and he was back playing 27 days later.
He missed the start of 23/24 with an ankle problem (related?) but other than that only international and suspensions kept him out.
This last season was a war-zone, though. Thigh (1 game) in August, concussion (2) in October, and then his hamstring problems kept him out for 10 games (Nov/Dec), another 8 in January, and then the final 9 in March-May. Even in the bit between those last two, he lost a game to 'stiffness' - and this was a Saturday game between two other Saturdays.
So yeah. Last season was awful for Toaly, but if he can get back to the first two seasons he's much more reliable.

Toal I feel has mitigations for last season. He has no rear over the summer carried an injury in and never properly got fully fit.
See how he goes this time. His record prior seemed ok and he’s not old.
Dempsey I think has just hit that point in his career where injuries start catching up to you. One after another. Some players just end up like that. I don’t think he’s one you can carry though say how we did with Wheater. His style means he is either fit or doesn’t play.

I feel like Toal's injury-plagued season may have caused him to become underrated by some of our fanbase. For his first few seasons with us I would have rated him as one of our best players, and amongst the best centre backs in the divison. Assuming he's now over his injuries, he would be top of the pecking order to play the right-sided centre back role, for me.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:41 amToal I feel has mitigations for last season. It's difficult not to underrate a colection of CBs who time and again allow free forwards in our 6 yard area and let the ball hit terra firma in the same sort of locations.
