Ain’t that the grandest news for the lads—and for our Julian, who deserves every success. Don’t need to sign anybugger if we can grow ‘em.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 5:52 pmYou wait ages for a signing, then nine come along at once...
Nine debut pro contracts signed by Julian's young Whites, who you imagine will now be the backbone of the B team. All 18, they've completed their two-year scholarships.

It's going to be interesting to see how many of those get given a chance next season. It's all well and good giving them a chance after Evatt's tenure, but when we've recruited and have preferred first teamers, it'll be Schuey's choice rather than signalling Evatt's players performing poorly.
Hopefully more will get a chance and previous managerial tendencies lead me to believe there will be more coming through.

Per this bod (reporter at major newspaper, 68k followers), fee agreed. Just personal terms with that lovely agent.

If we have a successful season I doubt that any of these lads will get a chance next season in the 1st team in league games, however I can see maybe 1 or 2 of them getting games in the Papa Johns or whatever its called now and the league cup.Mar wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 8:13 pmIt's going to be interesting to see how many of those get given a chance next season. This is an excerpt from Marc Iles in a Bolton news article this morning about Ceesay.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 9:51 pmPer this bod (reporter at major newspaper, 68k followers), fee agreed. Just personal terms with that lovely agent.

“During the first couple of months of the campaign he has scored once from six attempts at goal, and his statistics for ground and aerial duels won, interceptions and passing accuracy are also impressive”
He’s a defensive midfielder so the back 3/4 will have good protection by the sounds of it and just what we need, 6’ 4 as well. He’s left footed and can fill in at left back. That’s what Thomason did at the back end of last season.

Iles suggesting the fee is £350k to buy him out of the last six months of his contract. That seems like a lot to me.

Depends if he's any good or not, if he's a good player and improves the team then it could well be a bargain.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:33 amDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 9:51 pmPer this bod (reporter at major newspaper, 68k followers), fee agreed. Depends what he is valued at. We aren’t paying full value - with 6 months on his deal left. So say for example he was a 1m plus player - seems a decent deal. If he was valued at say 500K then yeah 350 seems a lot.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:33 amDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 9:51 pmPer this bod (reporter at major newspaper, 68k followers), fee agreed. Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
Thanks, BWFCI & Bertie. I understand, that we might be getting a decent player at a knockdown price. But, given we have limited finances, it feels like a lot to spend on a lad who's played 50 games over three seasons for a mid-table Swedish side and who'll be available on a free come the January window. You might say we need to move / pay now to beat off other teams, but there's been no suggestion of a bidding war (but who knows?).
So, with the little information I have, it seems a risky purchase in terms of cost. However, in Schuey, Harkin etc we trust!

My suspicion is that it might be Thomason. I like the lad but with the players we have signed, I cannot see a place for him. He is always a player who asks for the ball and tries 100% every game but he did not have a great season just gone.

Yeah agreed. On the face of it feels a little odd to say the least.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 8:29 amThanks, BWFCI & Bertie. Was chatting to someone yesterday who reckons he was highly rated and that they expected to get several million for him a year ago. No idea how they know this or if it’s true - but if that’s the case we might be onto something special.
Of course for every Gudni, Abdoulaye or Bruno there is a Braaten, Wilehlmsson or Kangana.

I think it’s whichever player anyone offers suitable money for personally. Regardless of position. I think purely comes down to who has suitors prepared to put their hands in their pockets. I think any player from last season we receive what we feel is a reasonable offer is gone without question.malcd1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 8:59 amMy suspicion is that it might be Thomason. Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread
If we do manage to land Ceesay, N'Mai and Kenny, it seems the combined cost could be around the £2m mark. About half of that is covered by the fee for Collins and two or three other sales would cover most of the balance.
So, I guess an overhaul that brings in eight new players and is close to cost neutral (maybe the fee for Simon tips us into the red) isn't bad business overall. But, obviously, the incoming players have to be better than what we had last season!

We also. have a bid in for Jacob from Hull - I think Kenny and N’Mai might sit in the ‘less likely’ category right now given respective valuations.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 10:37 amIf we do manage to land Ceesay, N'Mai and Kenny, it seems the combined cost could be around the £2m mark. It seems certain that there are a lot of moves still to be made.
If Ceesay were to join we'd again be at our overage, outfield squad limit, yet would only have one recognised left back (who's never played above tier 4), one recognised right back, one fit centre forward and three players who might be classed as wingers, but two of them are more wing backs and one of them can't stay fit and is presumably quite likely to leave.
