Re: Financiers, investors and white knights: What next for FV?
I’m sure that’s the case but it would be a concern if for example as Allardyce’s entourage did we were hiring a bunch of people Schumacher knows who would also follow him if he were to leave for whatever reason.
It’s a slightly different scenario for sure. And this guy is not a football appointment so far less a worry in that regard. But one hopes that we are ensuring that if Schumacher was to go the whole structure doesn’t fall apart. After all that is the major supposed benefit of the head coach/sporting director setup.

No idea if it's linked to Ray's apparent departure, but it seems Argyle's year-long negotiations with a potential investor have fallen through.

This was what was alluded to a couple of weeks back. Believe it's essentially a permanent replacement for Neil Hart.
If I'm hearing about it then it's a done deal or as good as.

Not sure if working with Schuey was a factor in his appointment, but important to say (and I'll keep saying this) that when it comes to a football club there's a lot more to run than just the men's first XI!

I doubt most folks think it's just the first XI, even if a lot are more focussed on that element.

Sheffield Wednesday didn’t pay their players or staff last Friday, it’s not the first time either under their owner. Players out of contract aren’t signing new deals and other clubs are sniffing around their players and manager. All the best to Wednesday and their fans
I’m still grateful to FV for rescuing our club and I’m happy to have them as responsible and stable owners, long may it continue.

Been a regular occurrence for a couple of years there. Hull having the same issues now. Before their last game of the season when they had to win to stay up, the players and staff weren't paid.Frank Drebin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:48 amSheffield Wednesday didn’t pay their players or staff last Friday, it’s not the first time either under their owner. The owner then decided to pay the staff and the players would get paid if they performed. Until they threatened not to play, so he paid them anyhow.
Bit of a nutter by all accounts

Re: Financiers, investors and white knights: What next for FV?
I didn’t know it’d been going on for a few years, the fans have my sympathy because we’ve been through it and I wouldn’t want to experience it again. Also when you see what coaches and players who join the club say about Bolton, it would have been a crying shame if we’d gone under. I think that when FV decide to pack it in, that they will sell it to responsible new owners. I hope so anyway.boltonboris wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 4:01 pmBeen a regular occurrence for a couple of years there. Hull having the same issues now. Interesting, thanks. You can never tell without seeing/hearing the original tape, but (at least the way it's presented here) it feels like she's blaming Markham more than Evatt.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:56 amCandid interview here from SB;

Firstly she blames the two transfer windows - "“When the August transfer window and subsequently the January window were not good enough, then Ian stepped down in January, we knew this was our opportunity to restructure the entire department".
Then, she elides from eulogising Evatt to saying “I don't think the recruitment in the 2024 summer window was where it should have been, and I think that followed into the January 2025 window" - then back to "I wish Ian nothing but the very best", with Markham notable by absence.

Very similar sentiments espoused in the official club video interview, as well. No mention of Markham whatsoever.

I think the trouble is she took her football counsel from Evatt. So when she asks ‘what’s going wrong’ it’s only natural to say ‘well I’ve not got the right players’.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:47 amInteresting, thanks. And as worthy says that is the issue with this setup. It’s all cosy when things go well but who takes the blame when they don’t?
It’s a pretty candid interview and clear she knows she should have sacked him after Wembley. The fact remains that I feel the naivety of the owners set us back two maybe 3 or more years.
Edit: I think the fact she’s put herself out there against first time since I think the post Wembley stuff is a good sign. Perhaps it suggests a return of some internal confidence across the club.
