His moves strike me as indicative of football's globalisation and its players' commodification.

Time was a North Macedonian - well, When I Were A Lad it were a Yugoslavian - would play well in his home country, maybe get bought by that country's biggest club (routinely defined as a "crack Eastern European outfit"), and then sold to probably an Italian team.

Tosh here, well he was still 18 when he was signed by a Russian top-flight club. They loaned him to a smaller Russian club, a Polish club and a Slovakian club.

Then Uncle Vlad decided to knock through into next door, without the requisite planning permission. Awkward. Contract mutually terminated, Tosh moved to Austrian top-flighters, who then loaned him to their partner club in, of course, Croatia. And when the Austrians were relegated, his release clause kicked in.

That's one way of looking at it. :D

I saw the following pre season review by a Plymouth fan the other day - just for those of us who like to fret or fear the worst!!

In truth I'm beginning to think the best bit of business we have done close season, was letting our now former head of recruitment Jimmy Dickinson go to Bolton on a free. Its hard describe how bad his signings Callum Wright aside (sadly now on loan to Wigan) have been, a classic case of we should have paid Wanderers to take him off us.

From a clip reel perspective, there was plenty of woeful defending and space for him, but as with some of the other clip reels, for me, Schumacher and his team (or Fergal and his team if you prefer), need the space to do what they think might work.
Yeah that did strike me, too - as did the fact that his contact with the ball wasn't always super-clean. But I would say that on at least some of the times he found himself unmarked, he'd made the right run to create that space. Question is whether such runs would be picked up by savvier defenders (cue joke about "he'd look good in training then")

It has been noted that Sheehan has changed agents, and obviously extrapolated that he's therefore leaving within days

Genuinely hope that's not the rumours which have suddenly started circulating in certain locations on Twitter that Thomason has gone...

Wrexham is the team doing the rounds. Presumably we'd be asking for significantly more dosh off that mob.

And yet some of our delinquents think he's non-league quality.

The Thomason rumour is certainly gathering momentum on the socials - fee apparently £1M.

I mean, I like him, but that's a figure I'd consider.

Would also be good to not sell to a divisional rival.

The fee is almost always bollocks FYI

Is that net? Gross? In instalments? The ITKers on Twitter don't think of that.

How many Barbadian dollars was Gale again?

It would be a great move for the lad, even if he would be a bench warmer.

I wonder whether this fee would cover those we’ve already signed, or would be available to Schuey to sign more?

It means we'd have to replace him hopefully with someone as good or better but if Wrexham can't find/attract anyone better then what chance do we have?

Simons, Thomason, Morley and Sheehan is an exceptional midfield for this level but without Thomason we have another big gap to fill (that's what she said)

It all depends who they replace him with, SS must think that he can bring in someone better - unless we are skint and need the money ?

All managers (and sporting directors) have to do some balancing - players in, players out.

Pretty much all payments are staged, sometimes over several years - Parky won't hand Schuey a charity-style comically giant cheque.

It's never as simple as "we sell Matty Midfielder for £1m, therefore we have £1m to spend." Agents' fees don't grow on trees.

But if money's coming in, it's a perfectly fair question as to how much is earmarked to go out again. And it cannot be reasonably denied that if we sell players, we have more headroom to spend (on fees, wages, both).

I don't buy (ha) the idea that we're having a fire-sale. I think we're selling players that Schuey/Harkin think can be replaced, and that other teams want, for as much of their market value as we can.

If we sell Thomason, the only way it can't help us buy a striker is if other clubs/agents add noughts to their asking price. And it's already half past July.
