Out of interest, is that Nathan Broome in net or do we have a different trialist?

Cool finish from that constant press in their half.

No updates from the B-team. Should be HT.

Another good run out, 2 nil to the good.

The difference is night and day almost.

It's Broome according to Iles.

First trophy of the season! And what a goal by super Mario! We look really organised, defensively solid, good in possession, can break with pace, it's preseason so it's hard to judge but we look great. Completely dominated Hibs, I have no idea what level they are in terms of league 1 but its encouraging. We desperately need a couple of strikers and we need to replace Thomo but beyond that I think SS has played a blinder this summer. Some negatives, I'd say Gomez, Randall maybe schon don't really look up to standard and obviously Taylor's injury, hopefully it isn't too bad. I think this is our year.

I’ve just arrived in Aberdeen, no, I haven’t been to the match today. I saw the result and the clean sheet and was cheered up after a long drive. Then, FFS! I see Taylor limped off injured and GT not in the squad.
Fergal and Schumacher need to get their finger out now, another defender preferably a dedicated LB and a replacement for GT and a number 9 as a minimum, I’m confident they’ll bring in the right types but they all need to be ‘robust’ both in style and fitness.
I’m still confident on where we’ll finish at season end.

What was that "nil," you say? Marvellous.

I’m liking what appears to be The Plan - press hard from the front, hunt in packs and win the ball back quickly. We very definitely lacked that experienced ‘9’ today. When the ball went central, we won very few second balls and the momentum was lost. Quick breaks from wide worked well, particularly down the right today and we look a much more solid unit at the back

I still think we’ll take time to gel as a side this year and the first month will see us adrift from the front 6, but I’m hopeful. I was speaking to an ex colleague this week who’s a PNE fan. They’re expecting yet another mediocre mid table finish, with little to cheer about. I suspect the three going up into the Championship last season will struggle and Derby, Sheffield W and Oxford will spend the next nine months scrapping for crumbs. I’d sooner be watching us in League one and hopeful, than having to endure their misery.

Taylor's injury appears to be not too serious.

Whenever Evatt said that it meant it was season ending. Hopefully Schuey doesn’t have the same trick.

Certainly he’s got us well organised pre season at least.

It augurs well. Now let's plug the gaps in the squad.

Thought McAtee looked sharper, more purposeful, and more disciplined in that hour or so he played. Essentially looked better coached. That bodes well as if we are to play one “in the hole,” they’ll need to pick up the pieces. Hopefully he’s relishing playing with a tricky winger either side.

Warren has broken his wrist and will be out for at least a few weeks (source: Schuey's post match chat with Super John).

The damn medical team strikes again!

I’m sure some of our fans would be happy to share their expertise in wrist conditioning, to prevent this happening again.

Broke it in the barrow game. Again I’m not sure there is much you can do same with Taylor yesterday. If you pick up a load of contact injuries in training then do non contact stuff only. Big Sam often did that. But contact injuries in game not a lot can be done.

On Warren's wrist - depends on where the pin is. Doesn't Adeboyejo wear a wrist-cast as a sort of lucky charm after finding great form while forced to wear one?

Anyway - another good win to nil. I didn't see it but clearly we need more up top, and possibly to start weeding out backups who aren't good enough. Sounds like Schon, and some say CMG (although on this week's podcast Iles sounded very impressed with him). There will be outs as well as ins, and things might get a bit brutal over the next month.
