Sorry Bruce. No use. You are "not" having a 36 handicap.

A thousand apologies to Commie and Blurred, but I'm afraid it looks like I will be unable to attend. It seems I agreed a while back to be my mum's partner on the 20th in the mixed open at our club - an event we won the year before last.

If you would consider a tee-time in the afternoon, I will see how early I can play in the morning in the open in order to try to make both.

It's the wife's birthday on the 20th, but the die is cast. She has accepted a meal out and I play, come what may. Sometimes, a man has to put his foot down for what he believes in. End of.

Er, yes, coming dear, the washing up's done and I've hoovered everywhere.

Come on folks. It isn't the Open Championship. Big fun day.

After all Commie's (and now Bruce's) hard work in organising the comp and prizes they deserve at least a decent turn out. Get in there quick and let's have fun.

I'm going to take up golf I think, so once I can afford a few lessons and clubs i'll be alright.

Put me down on the list for next year.

I'd love to take part, but I'm rubbish as Brucie will confirm. I can't hit the ball very far yet, and you will all just get annoyed with me!!!! So the best thing to do is for me to gracefully decline this invite rather than make myself look a complete numpty...

I bet you boys would rather talk about beer, cars, football and birds without a rubbish girl hanging around anyways!!!!

Have fun you guys, and no falling out!!! :D

No I won't, you're doing very well. You just need to remember that you actually hit it further when you don't try and whack the ball as though you hate it.

It's a well known fact that amateur golfers grow horns when standing on a tee and faced with an open fairway. Guilty, your honour!

10 over in 9 holes last night at old links. two pars and spent no time in trees. not bad for first round back from my sabbatical. People who think they're giving me a lower handicap though i must point out that i usually wilt on the back 9

Don't know how you are going to handicap me. I've been 13 and 14 officially, but that was a long time ago. Take pity on a poor old man guys.

Cheers for the offer, but I'm going to have to pass.

I need to be able to free up some time to be able to play first.

I'd still come down and watch though, who needs a caddy?
