I don't consider myself particularly different. By different I mean different to the people who wear trakkies, drink white lightning and go out looking for fights. Anywhere else in the world I think I'd be considered normal. Just Wigan is full of chavs, frankly. I DO wear just jeans and a t-shirt that's my point. If I was wearing goth clothes or make-up or something I could understand why they'd kick off...runningonbravado wrote:What I want a know is what makes you think your different? I mean, do you wear big signs pointing to your head saying "Indie", or do you wear stupid clothes like these 14 year old "I need to be part of something" children go for?Henrik's fan club wrote:Yeah cheers mate. I know ALL the people on here gain so much pleasure from beating up those who are differentmofgimmers wrote:So, basically, all the lads who want to beat up Indie kids, you now where to find 'em now.
Do call again.
I'm just trying to ascertain what it is about you that means you get beat up while joe public (let's say for sake of arguement, he's wearing inconspicuous jeans and a t-shirt) gets off with nothing?

Well, this was my attempt at getting the thread back on some kind of track... but basically...
There are a lot of dickheads in the world, and they look for a fight with ANYONE... not specifically people with floppy fringes... Wigan may have a fair few scallies, but it's also got one of the best music collectives in the country, and one of the best sixties nights in Europe (Rendez Vous at The Tudor)... what does that tell you? Absolutely nowt...
Pick any town, any city, and someone is getting a needless slap. That's what a lack of brain and booze does to some.
Do I get kickings wherever I go? Nope. Should I? Quite probably...

This town is a shithole. Anyone want to disagree? Didn't think so....
Yes, the vast majority of urban areas in the country have yobs. But, no, I don't hate Bolton. Its where I was born and I am proud of the town because its Bolton, so should you be.

I love Bolton - it is just full of absolute cocks!
I was wandering through the town centre a week or so ago at about 4am (been on a night out in Manchester and had got train home) and some random girl came and tried punching me in the stomach for no apparent reason. It's just a fecking joke.
The amount of people kicking off on nights out is unbeliveable, I can't remember the last time I didn't see a fight on a night out in Bolton - and i've been going out at least twice a week lately. I've also been out a lot in Preston and Manchester recently and I've barely even seen someone argue so it is a problem Bolton has. I can't be bothered with the possibility of having my night ruined for the sake of some knobhead kicking off with one of my friends.
I was in Ikon a couple of weeks ago and some guy bottled a girl in the middle of the club, a couple of weeks ago my ex told me that some scallies were randomly just chucking bottles at people on the dancefloor.
It does my head in - i'm fed up of it.
There is a problem throughout the country... but for some reason it seems to be worse in Bolton.

Rot. I live in Manchester. Barely an arguement? How about a 15 year old lad getting shot in Hulme (not Moss Side like the papers are saying)?Loyal White wrote:I've also been out a lot in Preston and Manchester recently and I've barely even seen someone argue so it is a problem Bolton has. I run a night, and when I'm doing my stint on the door, I've witnessed about 15 fights down Oldham St (which is the most mellow bit of Mcr) in the space of 5 months. Oldham St is a classic example. If you go to the Night & Day, you'll see no bother... go across the road to the Lazy Pig, and welcome to one of the roughest pubs in England.
Trouble comes from knobheads... and unfortunately, a large chunk of the human race falls into that category.

It's a shame, isn't it? But it isnt really ideal for a 15 year old person to be cycling in the early hours of the morning on a 'rough' place of Manchester.mofgimmers wrote:Rot. I live in Manchester. Absolute guff.Epitaph wrote:Yes they are, but nowhere near as much as in Bolton. Here, Bolton and Liverpool have the highest percentage, there's a few in Leeds but nowhere near as many as Bolton. There's loads that live near me.mofgimmers wrote:Sorry to break it to you, but scallies are everywhere.
Manchester = Moss Side, Cheetham Hill, Ancoats, Ardwick...
Newcastle = (nearly) The whole city
East Anglia = Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth...
London = Lewisham, West Ham, Brixton, Finchley... etc etc
They're everywhere... everyone likes to moan about the dicks who live in their town, but facing facts, every town has a large chunk of people who can be described as 'scally' or 'chav'. Bolton on a weekend appears to have a high percentage, but it doesn't. It's just, if you go out, there aren't many places that cater for anything but scallies... so you always feel like you're surrounded. The truth is, Bolton is no worse than anywhere else.

And these idiots will shortly go on to be parents. God help the kids. You want a comparison that's happened over the last fifty years, try this:
When the film "Rock around the clock appeared in the late fifties it was banned in Bolton for fear it's influence, ie teenagers going wild because of the music, would lead to problems. We saw it at the Ritz in Farnworth, who took a chance and showed it.
Frankie Laine released a record called "Answer me" and because it contained the line, "Oh my God", it was banned by the Catholic Church and the words changed to "Oh my love". Neither action had much effect and the onset of the "Teddy Boy" era began. Gang culture was born in the grand style. This died away to be replaced by Mods and Rockers, then Skinheads and Greasers, then Punks and anybody, etc etc. Now we have it all again under different names. Apart from isolated bad areas, it was always safe to go out with your wife and kids, come what may.
Weekends in town these days are a no-no for all but the young. No one caters for other age groups any more. Kids rule. When you really think about that it makes our government, laws and police activity seem ridiculous. You can't get treatment for an accident without waiting a couple of hours till all the drunken bloodbath idiots are cleared at weekends. Hospital staff get abused and threatened and the police haven't time to worry about minor things like shoplifting, car-theft, muggings and burglary. The elderly are afraid to leave their homes half the time and live in fear inside them the rest.
We've progressed a long way in fifty years.......I don't think.
