I know a simple drinking game:

You lift a glass of your preferred tipple and pour it down your throat. Better variations are doing it in the company of friends, maybe with a little music and conversation to help it along. Works fine for me. After seeing some of the lunatic strokes my brother and his paratroop mates used to get up to, I'll stick with my mild version.

May have been covered but there are the ol' drinking 'rules' as opposed to games. These continue throughout the evening and so the prospect for much throwing up is obviously increased.

Basically, you have to appoint a Chairman and a Watch Master. This individual has the final say on which rules apply and who must take the forfeit. Basically, as directed by the Chairman, anything goes. The Watch Master keeps an eye on the time. The more basic rules are:

1. Double tapping. Every time a beverage is consumed, the empty glass must be placed on a surface and double tapped. Failure to double tap will result in a fine (often a two fingered measure of drink). Double tapping when there is still 'suppage' in the glass will also result in a fine. This is the basic rule and will be the one constant theme throughout.

2. Left / right hand drinking. The Chairman will dictate how long left / right hand only drinking will last (usually 15 mins). Anyone caught drinking with their opposite hand will be liable to consume a fine.

3. Pass to a friend. As directed by the Chairman, once a beer is consumed the consumee must pass his empty glass to a friend, who must then place the glass down and double tap accordingly. Should the consumee fail to pass said glass he must take a fine. If we fails to double tap as well he must take a further fine. Should the 'friend' fail to double tap then he must also take a fine. Evil minded friends will refuse to take an empty glass.

Arrogance
Arrange with your mates to get different drinks and get a pint glass. Basically you pour however much you want of your drink into said glass and then call heads or tails. Guess right you don't drink and the glass and it's contents go to the person sat next next to you. Guess wrong and you must down whatever is in the glass and then go again until you call the coin flip correctly.

It gets very messy, especially when the glass has been through three or four people and someone has to kneck lager, bitter, guinness and wine all mixed together...

Good grief, do the young and not-so-young carry on with such ridiculous activities these days? I thought that sort of stupidity went out when the Ark was launched.

I'm no wowser as I drink to excess myself but that sort of activity is simply ugly.

Hello, blurred: I'm with you, old son.
