No they didn't say Arsenal would be champions. You just kept reading between the lines that that was being said. In fact, IIRC the only predictions made were by people claiming that Man U would win the title.blurred wrote:Is that Arsenal or United? Cos Arsenal were called champions by all about 3 weeks ago...James B wrote:more like a one horse race

I do mean the media and population at large rather than just those on this site. The same way that various outlets in the media wrote-off Liverpool's title challenge after Reading/Man United. Have they done the same to Chelsea? Erm, nope.CrazyHorse wrote:No they didn't say Arsenal would be champions. You just kept reading between the lines that that was being said. For what it's worth I think it'll take a minor miracle for Chelsea now - a few suspensions all at the same time, coupled with long-ish term injuries to Terry/Lampard/Drogba and then a couple of players off to the ANC - I'd be amazed if they pulled it out of the bag.
I imagine the reason is that Chelsea have very recently been there and won it.blurred wrote:Have they done the same to Chelsea? Erm, nope.

spannerLiverpool boss Rafael Benitez refused to give up on the race for the Premier League title after a 1-1 draw at home to Wigan on Wednesday.
The Reds surrendered fourth spot in the table to Manchester City and are now 12 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Benitez said: "It's clear the gap is bigger but I've said before that it's a long race and you need to keep thinking about one game at a time if you can.
"If you think about the difference, you will only play with more pressure."
How we can go from one of the best home records in the league last season to struggling against the likes of Wigan and Birmingham and Spurs this year I don't know. Somehow we're now fantastic away from home but not at Anfield. Next year we'll cure the home form but start losing away again. It's infuriating...
Two games that we could easily have won (City and Wigan) and we'd be sat here quite happy with our work over christmas... as it is...

Please feel free to cure your home form at the expense of your away form this season before you come to the Bok....blurred wrote:How we can go from one of the best home records in the league last season to struggling against the likes of Wigan and Birmingham and Spurs this year I don't know. You've gained one less point at home (17) than us. That's more than infuriating, that's scary. And yet the FSW still thinks you're in with a chance of the league title?blurred wrote:How we can go from one of the best home records in the league last season to struggling against the likes of Wigan and Birmingham and Spurs this year I don't know. Does anyone recall Herbert Lom's portrayal as Chief Inspector Dreyfuss in the 'Pink Panther' series of films? He started off with a slight tic and ended up being carted off to a rubber room. FSW reminds me of Herbert Lom.

Call me pedantic but you're not in the CL places.blurred wrote:We're a reverse version of Ipswich - they're in the playoff places despite having only 4 points away from home all season, we're in the CL places despite having fairly atrocious home form. Those easy dropped points are the reason we won't win the league this year, which is just infuriating.

Oh aye, I'm still thinking of that game in hand that we're going to win, er, I mean take the lead and then blow it...CrazyHorse wrote:Call me pedantic but you're not in the CL places.blurred wrote:We're a reverse version of Ipswich - they're in the playoff places despite having only 4 points away from home all season, we're in the CL places despite having fairly atrocious home form.
