Shame. As stated on a couple of other threads the guy just weems to work in his own little bubble when it comes to transfer dealings.

If anyone states the faintest interest in, say, Torres, then he's up in arms, whinging about poaching .... yet he seems to think he can tap up other teams players at will. When the other team resists the player then goes to the press and makes unreasonable & unfounded remarks in the aim of fracturing any relationship with the owning team's management and fans. Coincidence ?? I don't think so.

It matches his view that players from little teams like Bolton shouldn't be allowed to tackle his prima-donna's whilst it being perfectly reasonable for his players to go over the top, tackle late, jump-in and even stamp on opponents.

Benitez, you're still a prick .... and you're still going to get sacked sooner rather than later.

Looks like Pennant has managed (unbeknown to Benitez no doubt) to join in the unsettle Keane campaign.

I'm sure Liverpool did exactly the same thing using Gerrard to talk about Barry. Has Benitez got no bottle whatsoever? He's a prick. And a shithouse.

Similiar situation to the Barry thing - he's a first team player, with a couple of years left on his contract, that we don't want to sell, so naturally we'll inflate his 'value' to anyone trying to buy him from us, to make it worth our while.

But the fact that it's the Daily Mail would lead me to believe that Dirk Kuyt possibly ate a hamburger, and hence they have arrived at this story, such is their journalistic integrity.

Rafael Benitez came close to leaving Liverpool last week because of the lack of progress the club had made trying to sign Gareth Barry. (pity you didn't, you posing tosser).

Benitez's desperation over the Barry transfer fiasco, the lack of a satisfactory conclusion to the transfer involving Xabi Alonso, who has been linked with moves to Juventus and Arsenal, and the gaping hole on the left side of midfield forced the 48-year-old to consider his position. (None of which, apparently, was your fault was it, you blame-shifting git).

According to well-informed sources, the only thing that stopped Benitez from ending his four-year reign at Anfield was "the respect for Liverpool fans and for the people that work with him on a daily basis". One other factor that influenced Benitez's decision to stay was his belief that the team are in a position to improve on last year. (two "only things" ... someone's been watching the Spanish Inquisition sketch ... bring on the Comfy Chair !).

Earlier, a clearly irritated Benitez distanced himself from the Barry saga. To the Spaniard's dismay, the summer's most prolonged transfer has collapsed. Benitez appeared to blame others at Anfield for the delay in signing the player. He said: "Some newspapers and journalists blame me for everything: global warming, rises in petrol prices – everything. ? (Yep, nothing to do with me ... who can I blame ... who can I get the fans to blame, so I look innocent in all this ??)
