I will play anywhere, vows Diouf
El Hadji Diouf is looking forward to making his Sunderland debut against his old club Liverpool on Saturday, regardless of where he lines up.
The versatile Senegalese international has been used in a variety of attacking roles in pre-season games but admitted he is happy just to be in the squad.
"I'm not bothered if I play left, right in the middle, I love playing football," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"I'm happy to come to training and play with my mates."
Diouf, who joined the Wearsiders from Bolton for around £2.5m in July, ironically comes face to face with one of his former clubs in his first competitive fixture. And the 27-year-old believes they can beat Liverpool in Saturday's season opener.
"Liverpool have a good team and want to win something this year," he said. "But we're at home, it's the first game and we need a positive result.
"I'm very happy to have joined this club. I know they have a lot of ambition for the future."
WHAT?? Is this the same guy we sold to Sunderland???

"Anything else you'd like? How about real lead in the radiation shields? Urinal cakes, maybe?"

Oh my lads, you should've seen them coming!
Asked them why, and they replied,
'The Bolton Boys are coming!'
All the lads and lasses with the smiles upon their faces,
Walking down the Manny Road,
To see the Burden Aces!

Yeah I'd agree it's honeymoon talk really. He was of course also saying that they've a much better team than us, and that they're team properly in with a shout of Europe... not that he's feeling a little silly about shooting his mouth off about moving to a big European team and ending up having to take the only offer that came in for him: the mighty Sunderland. Oooh no, no, no.
Everything but the game: Because it's not just a game, it's a way of life.

I thought he looked okay...put in a typical "I wanna show myself off" performance to the new fans but didn't really do an awful lot.blurred wrote:Aye, he didn't look particularly effective yesterday.marshall_42 wrote:Watched a bit of the Liv-Sun match and Diouf wasn't up to much. Gave the ball away a few times and got taken off early.
