Anybody see the Wogan waltz on Children in need? Magnificent stuff.

I'll throw in a mention here for a gang of girls from Whalley Range, all dressed up in yellow wigs and Pudsey T shirts, who walked from Piccadilly all the way up to our area on Oxford Road and beyond, in the rain, colecting for the cause. Well done girls. I salute you.

He's my absolute hero and the only reason for watching the Eurovision. He lost but was brilliant on the show.

TD, I think you know my views on this drivel, and the X-Factor type shows, however it appears (read it in the Times today) that John Sergeant is pissing off the judges and fellow competitors and judges who are taking it all too seriously. Sounds like good stuff, seems like he may signal the end of this programme though if he keeps winning?

The programme won't end, as it pulls in 9-10m viewers a week, but they may change the rules or stop picking 'no-hopers' hereonwards.

The problem (not for the BBC who run on ratings, as Ratty says) is that John Sergeant was asked to enter the show and did. At first his efforts were applauded and the public took to him. The fact he's still in there is because the voting public want him in, the dance public dont. He's an appealing figure with a great partner and he entertains. When the judges gave the poor guy such an appalling slating, all they achieved was to irritate a lot of people who retalliated by voting the guy in again. Totally wrong move by the judges and I think they well know it now.

As a dance lover I have some irritation that better dancers are going out of the show because the level of dance is very high and greatly competitive. I also know that John Sergeant has nothing whatsoever to do with that and is there without commiting any sins. He just turns up, practises and does his best on the night and a large section of the show's viewers love it. To slate him in any way is entirely wrong and a major war is brewing between total dance lovers and those who just want entertainment. From being a member of the Strictly Come Dancing discussion boards, I know a lot of people are threatening to boycott the show if he goes any further. It's a real Catch 22 . On one hand you have people training really hard and achieving an amazing level of skill and performance. On the other you have one of them leaving whilst John exhibits a much lower level of skill but with such an appeal as a character that he keeps bouncing back. This week, two decent dancers had to face the dance-off and the loser went out to howls of dissent, mainly because JS is still in there.

It all makes for good TV, because of the controversy, and the BBC must be loving it. The real judges are the public and, since the BBC are getting a cut of the phonecalls they are probably well happy. I pass no judgement, just give you the facts.

People watch telelvision to be entertained. They are voting for whoever entertains them most. None of them will end up being professional dancers (unlike X Factor), so what the heck? Let the public have what they want.

Unfortunately, competitor number eight, "Jimbo" will be leaving the show tonight. He's turned int o a great dancer but can't compete with Peter Kay's "American Rough" or Ricky Gervaise's Office Shufffle.

Agreed it'll get to stupid proportions, but it's a problem the BBC have got to face. What did they expect in picking John Sergeant? He was hardly the most likely to be fleet of foot and was only on there in the first place IMO because the BBC wanted someone to look a little silly and not very good. They are now paying the price and it's funny watching the smug judges (especially that woman) every time he's back in.

Wish I could disagree. The whole thing backfired spectacularly. Not the first time though, Julian Clary and Christopher Parker being two examples. The there was "Perils of Pauline" Kate Garraway.

Okay, you want an answer on something that's of no interest to you. It's competiton, enjoyment, interest, personal taste.

It only matters to the fans of the show, just like anything else. What does it matter who wins X Factor, what does it matter who beats who in anything? Is any of it world changing or life-threatening? If you're a non-dancer and not interested in dance, why ask? It matters to me purely to see the best dancer win; but it's highly unlikely they will. Current media darling and public favourite John Sergeant could very well go on and win. It won't matter in the grand scheme of things, but then again, if we have no interests and hobbbies, what does it matter if we just curl up and die?
