Exactly, and from what I remember he was about to get the sack anyway until Fat Freddie came along and Dollared them up for a guy that they were going to have to compensate.warthog wrote:Souness nearly took them down last time.
I do feel a bit sorry for Ince in that he's rucked-up, seen Friedel and Bentley sold and then not really had time enough to mold his own side (Robbie Fowler and Matty Jansen not really counting). Still, c'est la vie.
May the bridges I burn light your way

This was definitely the right time to sack him. They need to hope they can get the "new manager boost" and win a few games before the January window opens. If they continued in this horrendous run of form you could bet on a January exodus, with replacements unwilling to come to a team so far adrift. Not saying it still won't happen, mind, but it was the right time to gamble.
Personally, I'm hoping they continue to suck and we can put in bids for Nelsen, Samba, Derbyshire, and/or McCarthy.

That sounds like he's led them a dance then, as he'd been at a couple of recent games and has clearly been in discussions. I got the impression that the hillbillies had already lined someone (him) up prior to shooting Ince.
Sammy Lee's probably available for a job of this stature Mr. Dingle.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
