Well played by the guys, seemed like Aus were slowly just going about their business and aiming for a draw.
I had work from 14.45 to 6.30 with no access to a TV

great timing.
Sixteen hour shift? Shit....
edited, smart arse
3 3/4 hour shift? Lazy bastard....
That's more like it.

Alas, NHS cutbacks dictate...

No need to justify. Especially to a man who's not done his day job since July 30th, and isn't starting again until 1st September....

What a day

Can't believe IT banned my stream!

Still, pubs in Headingley were welcome solice...still missed most of the wickets though.

Legs left in this one yet though. Hope we can bat a bit tomorrow.

I missed every single one of them. Had I tuned in though, I'm sure Australia would still be batting so can't grumble. I'm half convinced we only lost the last Test because I foolishly watched the first morning's play for once.

Same happens when I watch the Wanderers, hence the reason why I'm not going back to Hull tomorrow - we could do with the points.

Sorry edit too "Still most of the wickets live" and add...that I rushed home following collys dismissal and had a go at missing them second hand as well!

Prang!

What a day. 2 from them, 10 from the others and another 3 from them. 15 wickets in three sessions of play is quite astonishing. I bet those who paid their money went home more than satisfied (apart from the visitors' supporters, of course).

I must though comment on Mr.Broad. Perhaps I'm being a little unkind, but during the earlier tests he struck me as being something of a spoilt brat - I'm not sure as to why; perhaps his body language or general demeanor - but, for whatever reason, he grated on my sensibilities. I wonder now though whether I have been privileged to see the maturing of a genuine, ridgy didge, fair dinkum all rounder. I have no doubt whatsoever that he can bat - in fact I reckon he'd walk into many a team on his batting alone. I really do hope that yesterday's performance wasn't a one-off as, if it wasn't, the Englanders have an absolute gem to stick into their three crowns.

The Australanders? I am perplexed. The commentators to whom I listened indicated that the pitch had no bearing on the ten wickets that fell. Really? Given that the Englanders are already three down for a pittance?

Can the Englanders graft enough runs? Can the Australanders take enough wickets? Will the heavens open? There is no doubt at all that the Englanders are now poised to regain The Ashes. Can they do it? Will the Australanders pull a hat out of the rabbit? Will the butterfly released in China affect the result?

Apart from Bolton winning there are few feeling better than beating the Strylians at anything.

Holy crap, Pointing is an arse but he's a hard bastard!

Ball just hit him straight on the chin from a few yards away, got straight back up.

As an ex-opening bowler, I could never understand that whole approach. If I've just smacked you with the ball somewhere unprotected - under the ribs, couple of teeth, broken nose etc. no matter how long you stand there grinning back at me, I know it fecking hurts and the next ball is heading for exactly the same place.

You gotta love the guy. He gives everything every match and is a fine sportsman and captain. His only downer is that he isn't English. He'll fight till the last ball.

Yes we are, Worthy. I just wish that a couple of the charlies on 5Live Extra would realise that rather than adopting this it's-our's-to-lose attitude! :whack:

Great days cricket, watched it all today, comfortably being able to sack off Sir Jeff for news of how Bolton Wanderers 0 were getting on in the quest for a goal (clues in the name).

Ponting getting hit was a highlight, respect to that guy, though Swann and Trotts cameo at the end was the best bit of cricket all day, Strauss built well then out cheaply, and Trott getting a maiden century - class! Freddie's cameo was fun, but it always looked likely to end too quickly, though I suppose it was typical Fred fashion, and was very apt.

Bowling didn't go well later on and its very nicely poised for tomorrow. Quick wickets please!!!

The stupid cow on the BBC 10 O'Clock news was giving it The Ashes are-all-but-won bit before. Very, very foolish words. Get the fecking teas made, woman! :whack:

She's not alone in her twittering. The media ( most of whom probably think a Googly is slang for an internet search) ) are repeating it like parrots. Things like this mean I'll now watch in a "nervous wreck" state that a fat Aussie bird somewhere has refused to sing.

For a side that don't need to win they've made one helluva dent already.

I'm glad that it's not just me, Tango. :?

Ponting is yet to come in, methinks he will have something to stay. He's the type of obstinate b*stard that will stick around for a day or two...

I'll breathe a lot easier when (if?) he is gone from that crease.

Boycott was at it on Friday as well (claiming we'd won).
