Spoilers - techy codey stuff
Holler
another forum I frequent has a code for using spoilers - might help when discussing things on tv shows for example.
they use this method
word [\b]
replacing the 'b' with 'spoiler' and it comes up in a little box that you have to click on to open - might be useful here

Does that mean we wouldn't get to find out about the spaceship at the end until after we'd seen the film?

Ah, but the only reason that grave is marked unknown is because the name was removed by the same spaceship that Tuco landed in.Bruce Rioja wrote:So's the bloke in the grave next to Arch Stanton.superjohnmcginlay wrote:'Fraid so. He's a ghost by the way.

What would be cool would be proper spoiler code - keep a database (updated constantly) of films, and scan all posts for film names. Then find the film in the database, and automatically display the ending.
Come on, techies - you can do that, can't you?

G'day, bruno.
I too use a couple of sites that have a code for 'hiding' part, or all, of a posting. In both those cases the sites are written and supported by their owners.
In the case of this forum a phpBB system is used for the basis of its operation. Whilst phpBB is an open source application (see http://www.phpbb.com/ ) if it doesn't have the option of a 'hidden' code (I haven't bothered to check) then it would be up to the administrator or the local techie - your term - to re-code the program to allow and display such. I wouldn't wish that on anyone who is maintaining a site on a part time basis.
Nevertheless, I found some of the comments on this thread amusing.

Hi, keveh.
There is a thread here http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... Spoiler%22 which might help - but I have no idea as to how it works or the work involved. If you are really prepared to hook one in then this one might be worth 20 minutes of your time to trawl through.
I should mention, I suppose, that the inclusion of the facility is of no particular import to me and am not pushing any particular barrow.

That works a treat Kev.keveh wrote:There you go, quick couple of minute job, cheers Dujon.
If anybody does have any requests for things they have seen on other forums, then if you find it for me I'll install it depending upon how much of a change it is.
I saw a forum with naked ladies on it once - please can you install it?
