They apparently want permission to flog their players now:

Indeed, it'd be unfair on everyone else were a club, in any league which operates with a transfer window, to buy someone off them.

The Premier league should use some of the vast sums at their disposal to keep Pompy runing till season end so as not to distort the league! then sort it out.
If there are any financial irregularitiys people should be brought to book, overseas investors should be barred from any dealings with uk companys

Can't they sell players now, but keep the paperwork, so they remain Pompey players until the transfer window opens, then let them go?CAPSLOCK wrote:I'm not bothered about clubs gaining an advantage by signing them
Just Pompeys involvement
They have no right to bring in transfer funds outside the window
None whatsoever
That'd be within the current rules, wouldn't it? Essentially just making an agreement to transfer, and getting the fee in early.
But, obviously, the buying club would have absolutely no interest in that - unless they were sold particularly cheaply...

Maybe
In fact, isn't the 'window' open in some parts of the world
Sell to them

They can sell them to other Premiership clubs, and those clubs can even register them as their own players. What they can't do is register them eligible to play in competitions until July. They could own their registration, pay their wages, have them train, even (I think) have them play in the reserves. As you say, cheapness is the only reason anyone would buy, unless from somewhere where the window is still open.Puskas wrote:Can't they sell players now, but keep the paperwork, so they remain Pompey players until the transfer window opens, then let them go?CAPSLOCK wrote:I'm not bothered about clubs gaining an advantage by signing them

No-one in their right mind is going to pay a red cent to Pompey for their players to stop them going bust, because they'll get them free in the fire sale when they go bust anyway.
And they won't be able to play them, or afford their wages if they are in a league that will allow them to be played. I just want them to limp on to seasons end, so we don't lose 3 points.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

No the Club should be allowed to go into administration and if necessary out of business. If the Premiership used any funds to rescue Portsmouth that would be unfair to the other 19 clubs in the Premiership and the other 72 teams in the Leagues below. Similarly if they were give special dispensation with respect to transfers, it just can't be allowed to happen.Hobinho wrote:The Premier league should use some of the vast sums at their disposal to keep Pompy runing till season end so as not to distort the league! then sort it out.

Corruption appears to be have been rife at Portsmouth over a number of years and an example needs to be set against the Club and all the people involved. So the Premiership should let it be so.
If not, any Club relegated at the expense of Portsmouth staying up would be able to claim Millions in damages against them and the Premiership. Back to Wham and Sheffield United I guess.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

I'll repeat, from a purely selfish perspective,I'd like them to do anything it takes to avoid us losing 3 points. If that involves allowing them to transferplayers out,or lending them a bob or two so be it. The money can be recouped in the summer when they implode.

FWIW, the league table if Pompey go bust now stands at....
14) Wigan - 25
15) Wolves - 24
16) Burnley - 23
17) Hull - 23
18) West Ham - 20
19) Bolton - 20
...and we'd lose an extra winnable home game. 16/18 points from 12 games?
So yeah, if this does get the go ahead, us and West Ham should sign half their squad for about £11.7mil.

Surely they won't go under, surely not?
A club in the worlds richest and most popular league, raking in Sky TV money and the like, and they're on the brink of collapse?
Pulis was right, this whole foreign ownership fiasco needs sorting, the glory-hunters down't road were bought by some Americans, who borrowed money to make the purchase?! How the f**k did the PL allow that one through, Liverpool are in a similair situation too. Now, I'm aware that these two clubs would NEVER go bust, due to the amount of billionaire's who 'support' them, but it's saying something when those two global powerhouses are also in the s**t.
Praise the lord for Eddie Davies, being a Bolton lad he’s not one for hogging the limelight (we’ve Peter Kay & Amir Khan for that) but he’s kept us afloat.

The fact that United and Liverpool are somewhat precarious must only hurt Pompey, as any 'generous' action from the Premier League can't be repeated if United suddenly ask for help at 20 times the scale.as wrote:Surely they won't go under, surely not?
