You were a milk monitor at Primary School, I guess
Did I not recently read that Thatcher was against the removal of school milk to Primary School kids?
Thatcher became Queen in 1979...the unions who were 'under control' had had rubbish piled high in the streets, no fcuker putting fires out and bodies queued outside the mortuaries not that long before

To point one - yes.CAPSLOCK wrote:You were a milk monitor at Primary School, I guess

To point two - I believe so - but she didn't have the balls to tough her position out with Uncle Ted.
To point three - not sure what you're saying here. I said (assuming it's directed towards me) that the Union issue was all but over in the early part of the 80's. She'd already taken on most of them by the time the Miners strike kicked off in 84.

Or, point 3, we had a second 'Gulf War' because George W. is a fundamentalist nitwit, who lied to his people about weapons of mass destruction and engaged in an illegal conflict. Ably assisted of course by big Tony.CAPSLOCK wrote:Point 2 - you have to lose some battles to win the war?

She was, however, PM when we sold all those arms to him and helped him build his power base. Then we had to waste money and lives sorting out that which we shoudn't have been meddling in in the first place. Its a cold hard world etc. etc
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Meddling in?
Somebody wanted to buy something
We sold it to them
Its the way of the world
Selling goods and services for profit
You know, like you do
It created employment anyroad, without any worries over whether it made sense...bit like the British mines under Labour

We sell arms to the Americans.... For massive, ginormous sums. what if they 'turned ugly' 10 years into the futureLord Kangana wrote:She was, however, PM when we sold all those arms to him and helped him build his power base. If you knew anything about the subject, you'd be frightening. We sold him arms to fight Iran, as the Americans were scared of the two being friends, seeing as they own about 85% of the wolrds oil between them.

As I was around at the time, not reading about it later, I know the background, thank you very muchLord Kangana wrote:If you knew anything about the subject, you'd be frightening. I would suggest fcuk all.
Point being they still had one or two dinosaurs knocking about
It was best to take 'em out while they were weak not let them recover and re-arm

So apart from picking random bits from threads, you seem to be concurring with my original assertion?W4E wrote:The Union issue was all but over in the early part of the 80's. It needed some challenging - of that I have no doubt.
We still have unions today, I think they still play a role.

Just make something up that suits your line of thinking - you usually do.CAPSLOCK wrote:What does 'challenging' mean
They do - they fund their members EL claims

When push comes to shove, you can't have the Unions running the business. That said, there's plenty of improvements that Unions have campaigned for, that have been to the benefit of all.
I did have the balls to put the concept that no compulsory redundancy clauses were outmoded to a large collection of Trade's Unionists in the 1980s in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool - it wasn't universally welcomed.

But nor do I believe that destroying them completely is a good thing either.
