It's the folk who are authourised to carry guns you have to worry about.

Went into London today to follow the elephant trail with the missus...

leaving her in Green Park for a while I went to join that Gaza demo for a while...

there was a mixed bag of recipients - some very odd bedfellows - everything from the usual suspects (quaker peace groups, peaceniks, CND old-timers, various church groups I see on all the demos, socialist workers, myriad muslim groups with arabic names I can't decipher, anti-zionist groups, some odd few anti-semites, and all rubbing shoulders with a quite large contingent from "Jews for Justice for Palestine"

I was also amused to notice that the campaign against Israel and 1001 other assorted imperialistic threats to world peace do not disqualify you from stopping on the way for an imperialist ice-cream!

Childminders advertise on Ice Cream Vans these days?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

as we walked towards trafalgar square there was a young couple with a child in front of us explaining all the sights and sounds to their little boy...

see ahead - that giant pillar (says mummy)

what pillar

that great tall pillar reachng up in the sky

ah yes - with the clown on it?

no - that's not a clown - that's Napolean the great french leader who lost his arm in battle

(turning to husband) I'm right aren't I dear?

(husband) yes.

An interesting article from Haaretz - Israel's oldest daily paper, and their equivalent of The Guardian or Indy - a liberal leaning voice...

http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/a-special- ... a-1.293246

It's good to know that voices of opposition can still be heard in Israel...

To save anyone the bother of stating the blindingly obvious - in hardly any Arab country is there as much chance to speak and publish freely as in Israel...

A second link - from the Arabic aljazeera on the blockade and what it leads to...

http://english.aljazeera.net/focus/2010 ... 13851.html

A worldwide petition organised by Avaaz - an 'activist' watchbody and internet campaigner... The petition has accumulated over 400,000 signatures so far... add yours if you wish, don't if you don't...

Big Surprise!

Netanyahu rebuffs a proposal from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to have an international panel investigate last week's deadly Gaza flotilla raid.

unfortunately - nay - not kidding at all... the missus heard it all too... funny thing was it wasn't just a temporary branstorm mixing up 2 names starting with "N" - cos she knew Napolean was a french leader!

Did the husband give a nonchalant "yes" as in "yes, you're right", or a wary "yes" as in "yes, I want sex tonight, so won't dispute it"?

it was an "I didn't hear a word you said but I'd rather be at home in my shed and don't really care what you said so I'll just agree and hope this is all over as soon as possible - yes"

In a move calculated to pour oil on troubled waters and promote peace....
Israel has approached the United States for more bombs and asked Washington to increase an emergency arms cache stowed on Israeli soil by 50 per cent, according to the leading newspaper Ha'aretz.

Has Hamas turned down the more than likley offers of arms from Hezbollah in their search to promote peace?

Neither should get either!

Well Abbott snuck in there, literally at the last minute. Bishy did his thing on how he didn't like her but he couldn't understand why, and I completely understand. I should like her. She's pro civil liberties, pro diversity, isn't afraid of talking about immigration as a good thing, but for some reason I don't like her. I don't like the way she talks, she can be condescending, and also she hasn't got a hope in hell of becoming PM.

I wouldn't call myself a Labour man, but of the three major parties I'd say they're closest to what I am. My preference for the new leader, taking into account not only their own views, and the way they would lead the party, but also the fact they need to have a chance of actually being elected, would be:

Ed Miliband
David Miliband
Andy Burnham
Diane Abbott
Ed Balls

Also wht the hell can no-one use their real name anymore. Politicians aren't called 'Dave' and 'Ed', they're David and Edward. Stop trying to be cool. A. YOU AREN'T COOL, you're politicians and B. People don't want cool politicians, they want good ones.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
