It's a brilliant movie, directed at a stately pace by Louis Malle, with a story that leads you step by step to a devastating conclusion, ameliorated hugely, by the affirmation of human courage and generosity that preceeds it. Set in Nazi occupied france in a boys boarding school. Best I can do without spoilers. (Do you reckon that's accurate, bruce?).

But watch. Love film will have it, i think.

Perfect. I wanted to pad it out without ruining any of it and you've just got an A* for that one.

You did, and I made a billy-do to buy it on the back of your remarks. It's just that I only got round to watching it tonight for some reason.

It's ok. but the book is much, much better.
Hmm, question for you, William. I've seen the film, it's a factual account carried off, I thought brilliantly, by miladdo's portrayal of Cloughie. Question is - is the book still worth reading after having seen the film? Difficult one I know as I'm going arse about face, but in your considered opinion?
Not that factual. But still good!

Son sent the wife a couple of DVD's. One is The Book of Eli. Don't know what it's all about, but might watch it because there isn't much on the box tonight in the way of films.

The Book of Eli isnt bad actually, worth a watch at least but its nothing new and nothing memorable, a modern day Mad Max maybe.

certainly better than corrie or frggin masterchef tho!

I thought Eden Lake was really good.

A scary portrayal of The Child Problem.

Oh dear, nothing memorable is right General. Won't make comment as some may want to see it, except for one great piece of period research: This old couple living out in the barren wilderness in the post apocaliptic future:

"Would you like some tea? We have music too. Play them some music George!"

George trots over and cranks up the vintage 1940's gramaphone cabinet and drops the needle on the old wax record. I'm expecting a crackling hissing version of some Glenn Miller classic. Out comes Anita Ward's "Ring my bell". Laughed out loud. Brilliant.

oh dear, i didnt enjoy The A-Team that much, im gutted tbh. in fact, if it wasnt called the A-team i might have sacked it off half way through. not terrible, just not my cuppa tea. Really fun and nostalgic in parts but too long and too hokum in general.

BA wore no gold, Liam Neeson was terrible as Hannibal, shite accent WHY!? there are a million American actors who couldda played that role, Jeff Bridges would have been good i reckon? Brad Cooper was ok as face, but his character had too much glory. that never happened in the tv series. but Sharlto 'Wikus' Copley was inspired choice for Murdoch tho, i loved District 9 and he made it, and was quality in this despite his South African accent.

if your a fan of the show, its a decent enough watch, but otherwise you'll just be bored i reckon.
