David James to Bristol City

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Despite his faults, James deserves better. He's not the worst keeper in the world.

No - that's Robert Green, isn't it?

I'm confused Tango. As I understand it there were other Clubs after him, but HE'S chosen Bristol City. He could have gone to Celtic...

They must have some decent financial backing.. Hunt, Maynard and James will be amongst the top earners in that League for sure

From what I read James didn't want to move his family from their home in Devon, which rather limits the clubs that are within travelling distance. He said he was very close to joining Plymouth a couple of seasons ago.

Quote: "I've had offers to stay in the Premier League but it is more important that I play football for the right club and be a family man," said James.

Bristol City might be worth a gamble - for the gamblers amongst us.

Ridiculous that a city the size of Bristol has only had a top flight side for four years.

I still haven't forgiven Gerry Gow for shattering my illusions about First Division football in 1978.

Yeah i've heard that but i live not far away from his and he must still be doing a good 2 and a 1/2 hour commute to Bristol one way maybe more like 3 and a 1/2 if its at 9am.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

thsi dosent deserve its own thread, i was just wondering, who are the biggest club in Bristol?

I know City are generally more successful, play in a higher league, have the larger stadium etc

But in our office Rovers fans completely outnumber the City lot, granted many of them don’t go but the majority definitely favour the Rovers.

But last night, the cheer that went up when the announcer told us the Rovers score at Oxford told me that 90% of the 10k in the ground were City, which imo was a brilliant turnout for the U21 reserves.. in a friendly.. vs Uzbekistan!

i cant ask anyone here beacuse they are biased.

Ask 'em if they've ever thought they could improve their lot by amalgamating.

From the Rover and City fans I know, don't think this would go down well at all.
