I've had the good fortune to see a great many towns and citys in this country. The overwhelming majority are boarded up ghost town shitholes. We're neither worst nor best, just representitive.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I can understand loving the club, but as if anybody not from here would actually love the town, its awful.

I expect most players reside in Manchester or Chesire anyway.
He's from Sheffield ffs, even Bolton is like Renaissance Florence!
Sheffield City Centre makes Bolton look like District 9.

Sheffield is by no means nice, but Bolton is a horrible forgotten wasteland, with it's only nicely built part is Le Mans street or whatever it's called..
Never been to the suburbs of North Bolton then?

Jesus - if Dunscar is a dump then Sheffield must be like Monaco.......
Suburbs of North Bolton isn't the town centre.. Or has it moved?
So only the town centre is classed as Bolton then?

Hang on, just realised you're from Salford, nice!

I should have clarified that I meant Bolton Town Centre..

And yes, I live in a suburb of Salford.. A nice one at that. Thanks for your interest

Oh, then we agree, the town centre is a dump (and I've lived there twice - more fool me).

Enjoy your Image

:( Really? Must have missed that when I was looking at the unbelievably good looking girls he tweets sometimes.

Made the assumption due to this photo it's town centre http://plixi.com/p/34919661

If after taking the photo you were to walk down the street to your left, that's not a nice part of town. If you turn right you end up in a row of betting shops that leads to the bus station. Go through the bus station to the train station and that whole area looks much better. From the train station you can walk up through Hallam Uni to the Crucible. Museums, restaurants, theatres, 4* hotels.

There's an old tennament building in the background of the photo that is a listed building. They can't knock it down and may well be rebuilding it in someway.

slightly above and off to the right is a huge red-brick municipal building - all boarded up - Pond Street?? - what was that?

If you mean the building at the end of the betting shops I think it used to be a post office many years ago. The new sorting office is not far from there. I think it may be another listed building but you can see from certain angles that it would take a lot of money to make it inhabitable.

What's that indoor forest thing called? It joins onto a lovely hotel, with some cracking bars and restaurants. I recall that was near the crucible.. where the chrome ball fountains reside

Winter gardens!

That's definitely the nicer part of the city center. If I meet someone at the train station I always walk them that way into town, as opposed to past the betting shops :)
