I've had the good fortune to see a great many towns and citys in this country. The overwhelming majority are boarded up ghost town shitholes. We're neither worst nor best, just representitive.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

buying shares in companies supplying boards for doors and windows might be an excellent investment given the news coming our way on Oct 22nd...Lord Kangana wrote:I've had the good fortune to see a great many towns and citys in this country. he means when the tories and libdems will announce the Spending Review - the massive slash-and-burn cuts that will devastate inner cities - leading to more boarded up properties... that'll be Oct 22ndRobbieSavagesLeg wrote:Intrigued. More?William the White wrote:

I can understand loving the club, but as if anybody not from here would actually love the town, its awful.
I expect most players reside in Manchester or Chesire anyway.
Sheffield is by no means nice, but Bolton is a horrible forgotten wasteland, with it's only nicely built part is Le Mans street or whatever it's called..
Jesus - if Dunscar is a dump then Sheffield must be like Monaco.......
Hang on, just realised you're from Salford, nice!

Troll and proud of it.

Oh, then we agree, the town centre is a dump (and I've lived there twice - more fool me).boltonboris wrote:I should have clarified that I meant Bolton Town Centre..as wrote:So only the town centre is classed as Bolton then?boltonboris wrote:Suburbs of North Bolton isn't the town centre.. If after taking the photo you were to walk down the street to your left, that's not a nice part of town. If you turn right you end up in a row of betting shops that leads to the bus station. Go through the bus station to the train station and that whole area looks much better. From the train station you can walk up through Hallam Uni to the Crucible. Museums, restaurants, theatres, 4* hotels.thebish wrote:to be fair to sheffield - my photo wasn't taken to show it at its best - just cos I wanted a photo of the supertram with the tram bridge behind it!
as I wandered through sheffield, though, maybe I was in a rough part - I was quite taken aback by the sheer number of huge abandonned municipal and commercial buildings all boarded up and sprouting weeds on window ledges.. luxury pigeon palaces...
There's an old tennament building in the background of the photo that is a listed building. They can't knock it down and may well be rebuilding it in someway.
down to the left is where the travelodge is - where I spent the night..Armchair Wanderer wrote:If after taking the photo you were to walk down the street to your left, that's not a nice part of town. If you mean the building at the end of the betting shops I think it used to be a post office many years ago. The new sorting office is not far from there. I think it may be another listed building but you can see from certain angles that it would take a lot of money to make it inhabitable.thebish wrote:down to the left is where the travelodge is - where I spent the night..Armchair Wanderer wrote:If after taking the photo you were to walk down the street to your left, that's not a nice part of town. What's that indoor forest thing called? It joins onto a lovely hotel, with some cracking bars and restaurants. I recall that was near the crucible.. where the chrome ball fountains resideArmchair Wanderer wrote:If you mean the building at the end of the betting shops I think it used to be a post office many years ago. That's definitely the nicer part of the city center. If I meet someone at the train station I always walk them that way into town, as opposed to past the betting shops
