Have I missed something in the last 18months? I've been pondering this for the last 18months, and my question, is, what is the point of all this deficit cutting? Hear me out on this. We've just spent two and a half years hearing talk of recession, credit crunch fecking economy this economy that. We've just had an election fought almost entirely on an economic plane. It's always the economy. But what is the economy. To most people it is an abstract concept, yet an abstract concept we were told is of the upmost importance, and that people should vote accordingly. The economy we are told was crucial, otherwise people would lose jobs, houses, benefits, and public services would be hit. Now we are told that in order to save the economy, jobs, benefits, and public services must be cut, and many will lose their homes. The economy is a means to an end, and if the quality of life is shit, then what's the point. Let China send in the bailiffs.
People to blame for the economic woes: Bankers, politicians.
People not to blame: Low income families.
Guess who gets shafted?
Are we feck all in this together. Georgie has a trust fund set to avoid £1.6million in inheritance tax. This is somehow seen as acceptable whilst we have sweeping cuts affecting the needy. I only need to mention the words 'Lord Ashcroft'. They are all a bunch of c*nts. Labour can't well criticise either though can they? It's a Tory idea, embraced by New Labour, and who foots the bill?
Also, word to the banks, can we have our f*cking money back please? I was watching the news before, and they tried to make out it would be difficult to get the money back, coz obviously we don't want to hurt them again. We own them! Where is our cut of Lloyds' profits?

the average UK wage is currently just over £25,000 per annumPrufrock wrote:

your ordinary MP (before extras) earns a basic salary of just over £65,000 per annum
your ordinary cabinet member earns a basic salary (before extras) of about £135,000 per annum
ANY MP and ANY cabinet member urging restraint on nurses, bin men, council workers, street cleaners, ambulance drivers and firemen (to pick a few examples) - should have their salary pegged to the UK national average.
in fact - serious question - WHY not peg MPs and cabinet members salaries to the national average - IF we are all in this together?
we clearly are not.
and - they seem a damn sight more eager to deal with civil service pensions than their own too... The current scheme allows MPs who have served for 20 years or more to retire on about £30,000 a year..

It's our fault 'cos we voted for them. And it wouldn't matter who we voted in. All three parties are a bunch of self-serving c*nts.Lord Kangana wrote:Don't be so stupid, of course its all our fault. Because anyone with the gumption to earn above the average salary wouldn't bother with trying to become an MP, probably.thebish wrote:in fact - serious question - WHY not peg MPs and cabinet members salaries to the national average - IF we are all in this together?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Are you in charge now then?Gary the Enfield wrote:Okay, done.Lord Kangana wrote:Nah, we don't need contracts. Just do like the banks and really, really promise me you'll be good and pay us back, honest.
If so, on your own, or did you need to form a coalition with the Hoboh party? A coalition, keeping with reality, where Hoboh goes back on every promise and agrees with free kittens and coke for paedos? And nuclear disarmament.

I'm going to form a coalition party with Hoboh. That way I blame him for things not working, he blames me and together we skim off enough money to fund the Planet Hoboh Space Programme ''Consolidated Union (of) National (extra)Terrestrial Scientists''Prufrock wrote:Are you in charge now then?Gary the Enfield wrote:Okay, done.Lord Kangana wrote:Nah, we don't need contracts. This country currently pays £120million a day in interest on its debt. That's not abstract is it?
As for Osborne - his dad has given him a big gift of the family business during his lifetime. Is it really that outrageous for parents to pass on the fruits of their success to their kids? I hope I can do it one day, put it that way.
