What ?!?!?! ... & we are letting them get away with this ??

Thanks for alerting us Pru.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

This is certainly mountains out of mole-hills. People laughing the loudest are probably the Jews and Muslims. Front page stuff? It isn't worth a mention.

Thats how the Commies and lefties took over the trade Unions old boy, boring un newsworthy meetings with hidden agendas and voting! Eye opener was attending union branch meetings as a young sprog in the 70's (being nosey) just how much stuff got the nod and wink.

tell us tho - on the positive side - the precious day of remembrance that we want to preserve and honour - what did you do - how did you positively and proudly honour the dead?
Tell "us" Bish? , or just you jumping in with another of your self-righteous attempts to display your superiority? I observed the silence, chucked my money in the box and remembered my own father and said a prayer or two for his soul. See, I don't have a pulpit to give sermons from, or a church field to decorate with poppies as you do, due to your calling. Oh, and I've more than done my time attending rememberance services at the Bolton Cenotaph. My dad used to take us up Dunscar every Rememberance Sunday ( we walked there and back) for a quiet few moments at the memorial there. I attended the services long after that. Hope that answers your question. I won't ask what you did. I really don't care, nor do I wish a three page debate. I had my say, just like others. That's enough. No answer required.
I take it, by the time of your post, you gave up trying? Or did you manage it? Looked pretty full from where I was sat! (at home, with beer, being an armchair, good for nothing, know-nowt, skin-flint)

Nail on the fecking head TD. The worst bit is, people do daft stuff like that, because of the shitstorm caused by....the very same tabloid bastards who rant about it. My cousin, a nursery teacher, calls a blackboard a chalkboard because shithouses like that make up stories which suggest if she doesn't some fictional tosser HomoMusliBlack is going to get her sacked. They make it happen, and they whinge about it. The shithouses.

Anyway today I'm angry about bastard media lots trying to 'claim' Help for Heroes Day. Ignoring that it was first adopted by Rupert Murdoch productions as a jingoistic tub thumping exercise to slag off Labour, it is of course a great idea to begin with, and a great cause, and today something to be applauded. Why then do I have to listen to talk about 'The Sun's Help for Heroes Day', and 'Real Radio's Help for Heroes Day'. I wouldn't mind but they were advertising Real Radio on Real Radio. Folk are already listening, and it doesn't matter how much you advertise, as soon as I get out of work I will no longer be. Can the arseholes not even promote bloody charities without marketing at the same time.

It's always well meaning but daft white folk who dream these things up, it's never the minority groups they are purporting to represent. I sat in a Union meeting once where it was proposed to send Xmas cards to non members to try and aid recruitment. Immediately 2 white guys shout up "This could be seen as offensive to Muslims". None of the muslims there or who were asked later on, gave a shit.

There were big news banners across the bottom of Sky Sports 1 when I was watching the Premier League review show yesterday!

Looking at the story it seems she and her parents have plotted it up nicely anyway - had picture of him on wall at boarding school, same trip to Chile, same uni, same course, bingo.

I think I speak for us all when I ask, do we get a weekday bank holiday or not?

We get the Bank Holiday in recognition that we've been tortured with reports about it for 12 months.

As it happens, don't recall getting a day off for Andrew and Fergie...so not holding my breath on this one either...

I'm with Raven (though not quite with a friend of mine who proclaimed: "Royal wedding? I much prefer royal funerals...")

I'm not generally a Julie Burchill fan - but she did cause me to chuckle over this one...

In 1981 I was working for a socialist co-operative theatre company, and we voted to refuse the charles and diana holiday. men and women of principle, you see. Trouble is we were housed in the top floor of a school building and it was closed for the celebrations, the caretaking staff weren't up for opening it for us on a bank holiday etc.

We had a republican piss-up in the end, at the stage manager's house.

Which was all right. Though could have been mistaken from a distance for just another celebration of they-for-whom-the-guillotine-was-invented.
