End of an era

Post by CAPSLOCK » Sat Nov 20, 2010 6:26 pm

Today laid to rest the Allardyce era

Til now, we've been looking back

Today, the ovation for Nolan drew a line under Fatman

Well yes, except for - who the feck will we bring in to replace KD? Allardyce's greatest ever masterstroke!

I agree .... today finally put the final nail in the "long-ball, lump it merchants".

The players are performing with flair & enjoyment that I don't think I've seen since Todd's 99 point season. We have the opposing fans, players and managers recognising this, the media are there & finally, now, the cynical Bolton fans themselves are beginining to be convinced.

It was simply a joy to see and to know it's not a fluke.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

We'll find out when Taylor starts having a bad patch and becomes a Megson signing again.

Spot on CAPS and Bobo...

We've moved beyond the overture, now the first act commences, gloriously...

I can't wait for Saturday... and a year ago it was hard to say that...

It's like years of grim have evaporated - and this team hasn't got a Youri or a JJ... But, like Todd's record breakers, without stars, it feels like a star team...

Today there were several convincing claimants for MotM - I like that, very much...

Go, Owen, play on, maestro, there's a long way before the fat lady needs to sing...

Love the way OC sits there in shorts, footy socks and trainers. It's almost like he's just waiting to get on there. :D

You know, and this is the kind of stupid thing fans do, as goal five hit the net sweetly, and injury time spooled out, I thought 'It would be great if Owen came on in injury time in the last game of the season...'

I thought Caps was spot on. Up until now, little Sam, Megson and for a large part Coyle has always been compared to Big Sam and his accomplishments. Certainly that will continue to happen to a certain extent but this is now Coyle's team regardless of where the signings came from, it is his style. We have now entered a new era without the shadow. Let's hope it is a great one.

In my comments before the Newcastle game I was building the game up as an important game to establish our identity and prove to ourselves that we are for real. I think the boys might have overdone it a bit. Next week we have another big game. If we beat Blackpool it we be Bolton's first 3 game win streak in the PL since Big Sam. ooops

The great thing now is that if anyone does "start having a bad patch" we have players who can come in and do a great job.
