Bought a 3D TV set-up yesterday. Not much out there in terms of 3D films, so I somewhat reluctantly picked up A Christmas Carol 3D.
Just watched it.
Gobsmacked.

I think so, it's certainly up there with The Wire and The Shield for me, in terms of quality. The opening few episodes of those shows were quite inauspicious too...William the White wrote:Really> It's worth persevering???jmjhb wrote:Shame, it improves towards the end of the first season. Don't know The Shield but The Sopranos and The Wire pretty much had me from the first episode. One of the reasons being that they took it easy, allowed you to come to grips with the characters, and the fact that they were complex. These seem so predictable, stereotypical, and it's all plot. Hey, not posted back to LoveFilm yet - might get it out of the envelope and try the next 90 mins...jmjhb wrote:I think so, it's certainly up there with The Wire and The Shield for me, in terms of quality. I'm fairly sure the answer to that will be yes, you will get fed up of wearing the glasses.BWFC_Insane wrote:Will you not get fed up of wearing the glasses to watch telly?Worthy4England wrote:Bought a 3D TV set-up yesterday. They're fine for the odd film - but again probably wouldn't watch one every night (there's only a handful of decent ones out at the moment).
For the sport, not tried it yet - Not having a HD TV until Sunday, we didn't have Sky HD or Sky 3D, so they're coming to put a HD box etc. on Thursday. Will let you know after trying it out.
I couldn't imagine watching a day's cricket with 3D specs on - I could imagine watching a football game, rugby match, maybe a concert etc. with a pair on.

Tell you what I won't be watching tonight.
Part two of Frankie Boyle's Tram-adol Nights. Last week's was shite. Pure shite.
Neither funny nor shocking; Which is a shame because funny and shocking are the two things he's good at.

When he was on Mock I thought 'he is better than this'.
I watched him on tour and in this shit and thought 'no he isn't'.

Gave Black Ops a quick look - unless I set it up wrong, it didn't work very well (some reports I read said it wasn't the best) - will have another go when I have a little more time.Worthy4England wrote:OH - I'll be back in a few days.CrazyHorse wrote:You not tried playing Black Ops in 3D yet? As an aside, the Missus got pulled over by schoolteacher today
Teacher: "Young Worthy didn't do his spelling homework last night"
Missus: "We'll have a word with him, he told us he didn't have any homework"
Teacher: "His excuse was "I had to watch a film in 3D on the telly""...

Yeah apple-orgies, I did a quick search for reviews ont net myself and it seems a lot of people reckon the black ops 3D is a bag o'shite on the 360. I guess my mate who told me it was brill was maybe exaggerating.Worthy4England wrote:Gave Black Ops a quick look - unless I set it up wrong, it didn't work very well (some reports I read said it wasn't the best) - will have another go when I have a little more time.Worthy4England wrote:OH - I'll be back in a few days.CrazyHorse wrote:You not tried playing Black Ops in 3D yet? You wanna have a word with that teacher though. Shirley experimenting with 3D telly will come in far handier in the lad's future than some silly spelling tat?

He got 19/20 and understands some of the technologies involved in 3D now.CrazyHorse wrote:Yeah apple-orgies, I did a quick search for reviews ont net myself and it seems a lot of people reckon the black ops 3D is a bag o'shite on the 360. Frank Turner on Friday was unbelievably good. I'd never been to 53 degrees before, i quiet liked it, managed to siddle round the edges almost to the front. Went in the Mad Ferret afterwards, owned or run by the son of a guy from my local, cracking pub! Frank is such a good live act, and I would encourage anyone to go see him. £14 is such good value for a gig of that quality. Two of his gigs, Friday and at the Roundhouse last Feb would be in my top 5 faves ever. I've been a massive fan for ages, and seen him play in front of about six people in the back room of a pub, but he deserves the recognition and growing reputation he is getting at the moment. Despite my almost SKD levels of love for the man I think his new stuff is horrendously over produced on CD, his new single was described almost unanimously by my friends who went as their highlight of Reading/Leeds this summer, but the single on the new EP loses all of the rawness to it. Bits of the newest album suffer form this also, though he reamins a brilliant songwriter and lyricist. In the flesh on Friday it was awesome. The more I see him the more Springsteen like he gets, both in his style and the fact he really seems to care that the audience have a good time and he puts on a good show. Massively enjoyed!
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Mad Ferret, despite the shittiest name in the history of pubs, is one of my boozers of choice whenever I'm Preston. Used to do a smashing fry-up there as well.Prufrock wrote:Frank Turner on Friday was unbelievably good.
