But I can't see them jumping out of the frying pan in to the fire. They've already done the " small club manager doiing well". I'm guessing a big name this time out, and I'm praying its Benitez.
he could..
but.. 1. he won't be on the list (as you also point out)
and.. 2. he wouldn't go if he was (I can't see how he would gain from it)
so - no - BWFCi hasn't got a point!

If you leave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of me Uh uh uh uh no coyley please don't go!!
Sounds like a game of snake and ladders.
Coyle won't leave, shouldn't leave but these days who the f**k knows with 3 or 4 prem managers walking the plank..At the end of the day it's all about career progression. Pool are a bigger club regardless of there position in the table. (I still hate them dearly)

Re: Do we need to worry?
He'd probably gain financially. And it would feed anyone's ego to be linked with the Liverpool job, despite it being a poisoned chalice these days. I hope Roy drags his heels, and gets a full compo etc. They've treatd him shabily, and lets be honest, he's not even on the same page as Voldemort. Only we had that pleasure, and there was a queue to tell us what a set of wankers we were.

Re: Do we need to worry?
There is absolutely no way he will leave for Liverpool. He would be completely hypocritical if he did, after telling Gary Cahill to stay at the club until the summer as too much would be expected of him if he moved clubs in January

He could go there, we could get HWSNBN back and he could keep us up in 17th and call it a roaring success.

Re: Do we need to worry?
Yeah need to remember the AGENT in all this. He'll see his client's stock as pretty high at the moment, and even if he can't engineer a move somewhere for Coyle, then with the contract only having 1 year left then the least he's gonna do is get an improved, longer deal in place. So expect him to be linked and for BWFCi to cry doom

I'm not sure Coyle even uses a regular agent? He certainly didn't have one at Burnley.hisroyalgingerness wrote:Yeah need to remember the AGENT in all this. The problem is there are no obvious candidates who "would be on the list" right now.thebish wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:He could quite easily go to Liverpool. Couldn't blame him if he did, so BWFCi has a point.

What goes against Coyle is his relative lack of experience and the fact that he's currently perceived as the "flavour of the month" manager bit like Hodgson was when he went there.
What goes for him as that by all accounts they'd like a younger manager with energy (the polar opposite of Hodgson I guess). They are run by Americans who may well be looking for the "bright shiny new thing" rather than be tied down to the football dogma of "lets find someone who has been there and done it and proven it". Coyle would fit that bill (especially as he's in the past been described as the "next Bill Shankly".)
The list of who they could appoint does not look inspiring and if you had a vote I reckon their fans would choose Coyle over Martin O'Neill for example. Not that Coyle would necessarily be their first choice.
Whether Liverpool will really come in for him I don't think anyone knows. I wouldn't say its "likely" but I'd certainly say its within the realms of possibility.
However, burying our heads in the sand and saying "why would he go there" is just ludicrous. Potentially massive club, top international player, money to spend, bigger squad, more fans. Practically everything is in their favour. Yes they're struggling but Owen is the sort of bloke who will back himself to turn things round. Just like he did when he left Burnley for us.
Re: Do we need to worry?
Right, that's it then. He's going to Liverpool. We'll get Allardyce back and all this will be like a Dallas cdream sequence
Pfffft.
Re: Do we need to worry?
I'm not really bothered what Burnley fans said at the time - I reckon Coyle could see the writing on the wall at Burnley - that given the amount of investment promised had taken them as far as he could - and from there - the only way was down - his star was high - but it wasn't going any higher...FaninOz wrote:Isn't that what Burnley supporters said of Coylethebish wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:He could quite easily go to Liverpool. with Bolton - I don't imagine for a moment he thinks he has taken us as far as we can go... with us, his star can still ascend... moving to liverpool would be a huge risk for him... failure to finish in the top 4 is seen as massive failure there... and with the emergence of citeh and spurs - there are 5 in serious contention for those places already...

Re: Do we need to worry?
lol! whether we "bury our heads in the sand" on an internet chat forum OR whether we get our knickers in a knot over who might be the next manager of liverpool IF hodgson is sacked makes not one jot of difference either way... one is no more "ludicrous" than the other!BWFC_Insane wrote: However, burying our heads in the sand and saying "why would he go there" is just ludicrous.
it's just opinions - it won't affect the outcome what we think or whether we worry about it or not.
I happen to think we have no need at all to worry.
BTW - who said Coyle is "the next Bill Shankly"? and with what rationale?

Owen Coyle is the favourite at 4/1 - with Ralf Rangnick at errrr 4/1. Then there's Martin O'Neill at hmmmm 4/1.
What a load of bollocks writing that is.
Martin O'Neill is shorter odds in most markets on oddschecker.

Re: Do we need to worry?
Let's face it, BWFCi clearly has a point. Rumours suggest Liverpool are interested, and he'd be daft not to be tempted if the job were offered him - huge potential and loads of money, with more recent success than the Wanderers. However, I suspect that when/if Hodgson is sacked, Liverpool will turn to either Rijkaard or Deschamps - bigger names and more top level experience than Coyle. And so what if they've ruled themselves out - don't all managers do that when the position is occupied? It's only polite...
Anyway, if he does go, his replacement is easy. Another Wanderers legend, his former strike partner, currently doing rather well at Kilmarnock....
