I thought Sweeny Todd was garbage too.
They're never going to top Oliver! as the grimy Victorian musical. Don't know why they keep trying.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Oh well. Why bother making any more films after Ben Hur then?Lord Kangana wrote:I thought Sweeny Todd was garbage too.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
an unexpected 9hr round trip to Teesside left me with a lot of radio to listen to today...
first 4 hrs - downloaded whole series of Stephen Fry "Fry's English delight" - which was (as indicated) - a delight!
then - several r4 afternoon plays what I had also downloaded - great fun - the miles flew past!
then - the aftermath of Nigel falling off the roof to his death in the Archers...
isn't radio great?

I was keeping that quiet - but Jack getting gut-shot in the crossfire was a real shock.... Which is exactly how it's panned out. The Butterfly Effect tries hard to be mind-blowing but really comes up short. Might have gained a bonus point had Amy Smart got her kit off, but hey-ho!Bruce Rioja wrote:The Butterfly Effect (This is the only one that I'm unsure about, but hey, £3 quid of my money and an otherwise uninteresting Tuesday evening of my time - what the hell?)

As I said - £3 quid and a Tuesday evening on the sofa. No harm done.
EDIT: Just been having a look at reviews etc. Apparently 'The director's cut', which is what I've just watched has a completely different ending to the general release. The one that I saw has quite a dark and saddening end to it where it looks like the other one ends up a bit meh!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Just been watching Changeling, was expecting a whimsy period long lost son romance effort. But it's actually hard hitting, sad, emotional and kind of disturbing film. Nothing too graphic thankfully but anything that depicts missing or the hurting of kids really churns my stomach, and the injustice suffered by the protagonist really makes you wanna reach into the screen and grab the bastards!! Ruddy brilliant film. Acting superb too. Quality.

Best of New Jack Vol. 2- ECW's Most Wanted
Best of New Jack Vol. 1
ECW It Ain't Seinfeld 1998

Rashomon an absolute classic. Might put that on my Love Film list. Paris, Texas has got a fantastic Ry Cooder (I think) sound track and a beautiful haunting story - Wenders' best. IMHO. Enjoy.

Just got back from The King's Speech

Ah I loved Bader Meinhof Complex General, great stuff. Only recently watched the two Mesrine films and the terrorist group in BMC is mentioned in that, made me want to watch it again - class film.William the White wrote:Some good choices there! i rate the bold ones and Peeping Tom is of historical interest.General Mannerheim wrote:back in Bristol now so i can get stuck into a few fillums that our Maude wouldnt fancy. Re: What are you watching tonight?
I watched 'A question of Sport' last night, which always entertains.
Alistair Campbell (big Burnley fan) was on the show and, as he was introduced it showed a clip of him stood on what I assume was the steps of Burnley Town Hall with a grinning Owen Coyle. Oops.
Jessica Ennis was on too (sigh)
Better yet SKD was one of the Mystery Guests in a fighter plane/ top gun effort.
Great show.
