He sings well enough, great songwriter and musician.

I'm sure his voice ain't as good as Celine Dions but I know who I'd rather go and see live!

Has anyone been watching 'Zen' on beeb 1? Italian detective series, where all the actors speak in english accents, except the fit secretary who Zen is knocking off, worth watching just for her t*ts. Storylines are a bit slow though.

I enjoyed the first one - and i have still enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd - but have to admit I have nodded off during some sections! (that's normal for me on a sunday night though!)

I fear it is becoming a bit formulaic - though i do like the lead actor and his understated manner - also - makes me laugh a few times - there has been FAR WORSE on offer on a sunday night!

Very true Bish. It is understated, except for the suits! Very Italian. Same as you I enjoyed it in the sense that 'well there's nowt else on'. But there have been some very subtle funny moments. Could have been more exciting if it had been cut down by 30 mins, but then is that missing the point of the languid Italian way of doing things?

Watched 'The Corner' - precursor to 'The Wire'.

Harrowing and utterly compelling. Must-see.

Yeah, Lovefilm or torrent download. Whichever floats your boat.

Has 'Wire' actors in it, playing different parts. Landsman, Lester etc all in there. Incredibly powerful, heartbreaking and funny - you can definitely see where The Wire came from.

I hope you give it a fair crack, it's an excellent film on a technical level. Let's hope you have a big massive telly too to show it off properly.

Ah, you don't know of my tele dilemma. In 2000 I bought the best tele that I could afford and spent an entire tax return on a Sony Trinitron. About two weeks later and widescreen came out!
This tele is still in perfect working order and as such will be my tele until it pops. As such, I am missing out, I know.

ouch!! I just picked up a huuuuuge Sony Trinitron off freecycle for free - including the little glass cabinet underneath... it is FECK heavy!!!! the woman told me it was heavy - and I thought - yeah, right - tellies are heavy dear.. but - this one wouldn't weigh much more if (in fact) it was a landrover with a plug attached...

(actually - I don't think you are really missing out - except on the space it would save!!!)

I watched it over Christmas for the same reason, and came to the conclusion that there's no diofference between this, and a video by The Future Sound Of London on a loop for 2 1/2 hours. The story would be less repetitive (and much, much, MUCH less hypocritical) from FSoL, too.

Just opened the box set of Our Friends From the North and watched episode one.

Every bit as good as I remember it.
