I'm not sure about "no chance with any" but I don't think he did much wrong to be honest.David Lee's Hair wrote:Jussi had no chance with any of the goals last night. FACT.
I can't believe some people think he should have saved Drogba's wonder strike.
Bloody hell.
We'll be in a position soon where any shot that results in a goal will be the keepers fault no matter what!

Re: Time Up For Jussi?
Any?? You must be kidding me? Definitely the last two without question. The only thing is we expect better from a keeper who has been one of the best in the Premier League for years. He's just in a bad run but unfortunately, as a keeper, a bad run of form means goals conceded, and we don't have the firepower to compensate for 2/3/4 goals shipped.

If you're worried about goals being shipped I think you should look at the 4 shithouses across the back four before pointing the finger at Jussi!MJH-12 wrote:Any?? You must be kidding me? Fair point BWFCi, but he's also to blame. He's part of the defence isn't he?

Re: Time Up For Jussi?
Yeah, I thought he might've done better with the first at the time. Upon seeing the replay, it's unsaveable.
He'd probably fancy himself to save the last two on his best day, but they would've been excellent saves. He made up for it later on.
Did anyone see Arsenal's third on Saturday? Al Habsi, good though he is, is not the Iker Casillias figure he's made out to be.

Re: Time Up For Jussi?
Agreed re: Drogba's no keeper in the world would have got that. It started straight, swerved to Jussi's left, then at the last minute swerved right, all of that at getting up to 70 mph. Simply no chance.
The only one where he was at any fault was the second. He went for Malouda's cross that Cahill deflected back to him, and was a bit slow getting up.
Maybe not no chance, but for the Anelka and Ramires goals, both of were great finishes. They both placed them back across the keeper from the direction he was moving. If he'd saved both we'd be talking about wonder saves.
Al Habsi would not have saved them, and some people are bloody clueless if they think he would.

Aye but without Jussi it'd have been 7 maybe 8 last night.MJH-12 wrote:Fair point BWFCi, but he's also to blame. He's part of the defence isn't he?
And Chelsea deserved that, they were that much better than us.
We've had a poor defence all season that have conceeded goals when we've not even been under much pressure, ala Wigan at home. Back four are far bigger issues than Jussi IMO!

Cahill turned his back! His back! You do that at under 11s. Shameful.

Aye I'm getting worried that we'll lose Cahill for a free at the end of his contract.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Cahill turned his back! His back! You do that at under 11s. Shameful.

Re: Time Up For Jussi?
I completely agree BWFCi, I think he did make a couple of good saves however he's not blameless in all this. Robbo is the only defender coming out with any credit at all at the moment I feel. Wheater will start on Saturday I hope. Knight & Cahill think they are indispensable.
Cahill needs to come out, commit the next 5 months to us and start playing like the player who got all the recognition, or do us a favour, bugger off for £15m and we can spend some money on reinforcing the rest of the team. At the moment, in the form he's in, we'll be lucky to get £10m!

indeed - I can't understand the force of anti-Jussiness that is sprouting - he was left horribly exposed last night - if you allow chelsea to line up and have a whack in the area - several are gonna go in.
steinner gives the ball away with some SHOCKINGLY BAD ball mis-control and Chelsea swarm forward - Jussi was not expecting drogba to do that - nobody was - if he hadn't, he'd have passed it to anelka who was in ACRES of space 8 yards out...
then KD does pretty much the same as we swarm forward leaving 5 on 4 and Jussi exposed...
nobody would claim Jussi had a great night - BUT - to lay such a load of the blame at his door is ludicrous.

Re: Time Up For Jussi?
Right now and I'm being deadly serious, I don't think anyone would pay 8M for Cahill if they'd watched him against Chelsea. Perform like that for one of the "top clubs" and you'd not play for a very long time indeed.MJH-12 wrote:I completely agree BWFCi, I think he did make a couple of good saves however he's not blameless in all this. Couldn't agree more. He saw last night as an opportunity to impress against a big club.....he failed.

But I think it's a bit unfair just to heap the blame on the back 4.
And certainly very unfair to heap it all on the back 1.

Agreed. I hope someone feels the need to stump up £15m. Ricketts is better at Centre Half IMO
