"cusp"? That'll have the sun readers reaching for the dictionaries. Oh ,hang on,there's a flaw in that sentiment.thebish wrote:the SWP story still festers....
Fulham boss Mark Hughes has all but given up his hopes of signing Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips and will now turn to Tottenham Hotspur’s Nico Kranjcar. Wright-Phillips is believed to be on the cusp of joining Bolton Wanderers despite rumoured interest from Newcastle United, Sunderland, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers. (The Sun)
SWP offers something different to Taylor but I'm not entirely convinced that is where he would play if he did come.I'm sure I remember SWP being most effective for city playing in more of an inside forward position.

It's likely that any deal anywhere for SWP is off.. Johnson has gotten himself injured (pretty badly) by the sounds of it and he could be needed at Eastlands

Yep .... that's always claimed by the Celtic fringe. & it's bllx.boltonboris wrote:Ah.. He's a miserable feckwit whether he's shown to be Scotch, Celt, British or a near-Englander.
I dread him actually winning something as we'll never hear the end of it.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

See I'd like him to win something, I don't really care what his character is like. Christ we all support a load of footballers whether its for England or Bolton most of which you'd probably choose to punch in the face rather than have a drink with if you knew them personally. But I think to have the first British male grand slam winner in god knows how long would be good, good for sport, good for the country and good for tennis.bobo the clown wrote:Yep .... that's always claimed by the Celtic fringe. & it's bllx.boltonboris wrote:Ah.. At the end of the day I'd rather he won something than ended up like Henman pathetically clinging on in a vain attempt to do something. I find Murray irritating sometimes in that I think his attitude stops him winning some matches but short of that, whether he is miserable or not really is irrelevant unless I was going for a pint with him, or going to watch him in stand up or sommat!

Good for a lot of things, then. Like spinich.BWFC_Insane wrote: But I think to have the first British male grand slam winner in god knows how long would be good, good for sport, good for the country and good for tennis.
Why would it be better for "Sport" (in general, rather than any particular layer/sort/area of sport) that he won, rather than our Nowak?
Why would it be good for the country? He doesn't represent the country in this competition. The Kevin Davies Cup, or whatever it's called - he represents the country in that, I grant you. Here, he just represents himself. He just happens to be Scottish.
Good for tennis? Hmmm. Maybe more Scottish (and even a few English) kids take up the game for a while. Maybe some of them are good. They get caught up in the LTA's inordinately poor coaching system, and turn into the next Jeremy Bates. Didn't Murray bugger off to Spain to avoid that? I think, for British tennis to improve, a rather larger overhaul needs to occur than just Murray winning a proper tournament.
Come on, Nowak...

Oddly, Manchester was in London when Berbatov joined after midnight. Oh hang on, Spurs were selling him. Carry on.

Lots of reports in Spanish in the last hour are saying Carlos Vela has joined West Brom.thebish wrote:the web has everton in for Carlos Vela..David Lee's Hair wrote:Twitter is rife with Vela going to the Baggies...

Would be a bit of a blow in some ways seeing as he appeared to be our last remaining realistic target for this window.
