Re: Sturridge Signs
Just as a bit of extra entertainment...a little game of 'come and have a look at what you could have won' :

Another WBA fan mentioned that 'there's no point playing Vela just because we have him' - well, i fear thats what RDM probably promised Wenger ! To be fair to the lad himself, they played him out on the right wing i think, a position he hasn't played before...which certainly does smack of playing him because they've got him and feel they have to.comment by baggiesfan (U14609333)

You can't just say Vela will be no good based on one game
1 point wasn't what we wanted but is ok
Vital that we equalised
I dont get this 'a point is no good' as it defo is vital
Reid in for Jara
Tamas/pablo in for cox

I wouldnt judge Vela on one game,he is a handy addition to the squad, but what we need now is experienced players playing in their best positions. We cannot play Cox in the midfield role,He must be brilliant in training, because RDM thinks that is his best position.Just cant see it myself. We all clamoured for Carson to be replaced,We all couldnt wait for Olsson to come back.Despite both of these things,we still havnt sorted out the defence!

You are absolutely right Pie about the whole team needing to defend, and last nights line was far too open. It was crying out for Reid to sit in the defensive midfield position and give some protection. None of Thomas, Brunt, Vela, or Cox looked like they would put in the hard work required. Mulumbu is a great box to box midfielder but doesn't have the discipline to sit and hold. Likewise the other midfielders don't slot in to his role if he breaks forward. Before anybody starts I thought Thomas and Mulumbu had good games but not necessarily where they were needed.
Vela did fine but is wasted on the wing, particularly on the right.

'Instead I just put Hatebreed, a brutal metal band on and the anger went away.'
Quality - I'll try that then as my house is currently full of holes.

I said all this 3 weeks ago and got labelled a dingle
Heads in the sand most of you. Went last night and it was dire for 70 minutes of the game.
What has Shorey done? Jara not a full back. Olsen thinks he's Beckenbaur,Cox in midfield (you have to wonder)wingers that can't cross and a midfield Wigan walked through at times.

Well Simon, remember, according to some, these are the "easy" games. We are deluding ourselves. We are in a dog fight and amazingly we still arnt in the bottom 3.However as per the original post, unless RDM pulls his socks up,we will go down.Sorry Folks for being realistic, but we cant keep closing our eyes to the fact that we have the worst defence in the Premier League.

Agree with all of the above.
I was going to write it all here, but I had to create my own post or I'd never get it in.
It's amazing that RDM played Cox in midfield again, absolutely staggering.

I was wetting myself after reading that this morning!Lofthouse Lower wrote:Started on the right note, for me
“Owen Coyle convinced me right away,” he said. “I didn’t need to hear anything else after about 20 seconds.
“It was easy for me to make a decision to come here, a club that the manager actually wanted me to come to.
“It was said that Chelsea were offering me to go to Liverpool but that wasn’t the case. Chelsea told me from day one that they weren’t letting me go to any top four clubs, or Liverpool for that matter.![]()
Even a Liverpool fan at work found it funny.
