I'd say Robbo is far better on the ball than Samuel, rarely gives it away decent passer.
And is also a much better defender.
The taller and faster stuff I'd go with.

I like Robinson, honest I do, but to say that he's a better defender is off - for me.
Robinson is great at tackling, and pointing, and shouting - but that's about it.

He is very clearly better as a defender. Samuel went missing all too often and rarely covered the centre backs.Lofthouse Lower wrote:I like Robinson, honest I do, but to say that he's a better defender is off - for me.

I'm sure I read a couple of week's back that Robinson is statistically our most successful passer. Go figure.

Indeed. That's what pisses me off about him. There's my man to mark - I'll point to someone else to go and get him...Lofthouse Lower wrote:at the expense of the man he was meant to be marking? a la Robinson?BWFC_Insane wrote:He is very clearly better as a defender. He isn't very clearly better as a defender. He might be clearly better at tackling - but only if he happens to be there.

Samuel? Is everybody creeping back to this 'If he's not in the team, he's better than the guy who is' mentality? Last time I saw him, he was shite, I doubt he's improved any by being on the injury table / naughty step.

I NEVER mentioned the bloody pub. (Not this time anyhow).Wandering Willy wrote:Worthy in "pub player" shocker.
I think Robbo's ok. Not brilliant. Not "player of the season". But ok. As in not bad - or sometimes occasionally very bad and sometimes occasionally very good.
When he goes for a tackle, he's usually pretty good at stopping the attacker - by fair means or foul.
The problem for me isn't when he goes for a tackle, it's when he doesn't and quite clearly points his man to tackle out to some other poor sod, because he's out of position. Not in a JLS sense - i.e. other end of the pitch - but just out of position enough to not be able to quite get there in time.
Then invariably someone else tries to make the challenge and takes the rap, for not making the challenge...and people say "X was shite going for that one", when really it should have been Robbo's to deal with from the outset.
That is all.

I personally think Gardner is still the best left back at the Club, even at his age, but alas his injury woes may prove that we won't see him play in the 1st Team again. I hope I'm wrong though.
