Jussi's Dream Team.

Jussi's Dream Team.

Post by TANGODANCER » Sat Mar 12, 2011 9:05 pm

Jussi Jaaskelainan published his favourite Whites Dream team, comprised of past and present players in today's BN. This was his XI:

Jussi (well, it's his team)
Bergson,
Hiero
Hendry
Candela
Campo
Djorkaeff
Okocha
Davies
Gudjohnson
Anelka

I'd maybe have a couple of differences based on a lot of years, but it'll take some serious thinking about. What would yours be based on players you've watched in a Whites shirt?

N'Gotty in for Hendry and thats pretty much the team I'd pick.

Edit: Though it is missing Nolan. And I'm really starting to like the cut of CYL's jib. And Holden....etc

Jussi never had Worthy as a CF...So it's only his opinion since he's been playing....

Aye its players Jussi has played with.

I suppose it depends how you look at it. Hendry at the peak of his career was as good as there was IMO. Not necessarily at his "peak" for us. Still one of the big reasons we came back up, he was great that season.

A little before Jussi's time, but he made Eddie Hopkinson's team.

But still the title is "favourite Whites Dream team" so it could go all the way back.

Its his favourite team. He wasn't even born when Nat was playing.

Besides, its clearly the players he's played with.

Jussi hasn't picked a team, he's picked a group of players

And he's picked it on reputation...Hierro we had wasn't a centre back

And Bergsson was a relatively poor right back

I'll go

Jussi
Bruno Cahill Gudni Gardner
Youri Nolan Campo Okocha Diouf
Anelka

sub Ian Marshall

I loved watcing Hierro in the dozen good games he had

I'll have forgotten somebody obvious, but I've not forgotten Davies

Right back is a challenge but it could've been Hunt or Tal Ben Haim on another night

Aye, but when he could be arsed he was a top player for us.

You pick him then ;)

In all my years I've seen 3 performances by Bolton players that were world class

Jussi at Hull, Okocha at Spurs and Diouf at Brum...just can't be doing with players who pick and choose when to be arsed

I'd add to that Youri. In several, but most notably when he decided we weren't going to lose to Arsenal in that 2-2. And single-handedly set about doing it.

Okocha at Sunderland in the second half, when he'd clearly got bored with a non performance in the first... and decided to win the game all by himself.... so... just... did... Brilliantly... :D

This and Campo against Spurs first game of the second year we got to Europe. The goal and an imperious performance

Having seen a lot of Bolton teams play I still wouldn't be including too many from the distant past simply because football in the modern era is better than it's ever been due to many things: better gear and pitches and the speed of the game etc, so mine would probably be:

Hopkinson
Hartle
Bergson
Hierro (If he hadn't got injured when he did, I might have gone for Laville)
Candela (fighting it out with Ricky G)
Campo
Okocha
Djorkayeff
Worthington
Lofthouse (Sorry Kev, you're nearly there but Nat was a one off)
Anelka.

Hard not to include Freddie Hill, Wyn Davies, Byron, McGinlay, Paul Jones, Warwick Rimmer, Per Frandsen, Alan Thompson, Peter Thompson and a good few more, but you can only have eleven.
