Re: europe if we beat stoke
Not explicitly, but it doesn't mention what happens if the Cup winner has a Europa League spot at all, so after reading 2.02b, 2.03 and 2.04 it suggests 6th place will be the beneficiaries in that scenario.BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye but that doesn't say anything about what happens if City finish 5th and win the FA cup. Who gets the final Europa place then? 6th or the runners up?RusholmeRuffian wrote:Source!UEFA wrote:If the winner of the domestic cup qualifies for the UEFA Champions League, the domestic cup runner-up qualifies for the UEFA Europa League at the stage initially reserved for the lowest ranking top domestic league representative...
Re: europe if we beat stoke
Couldn't care less about Europe right now. All I want is to beat Stoke so that we can make to to an FA Cup Final. That is all that counts at the present moment.

La France Sportif wrote:UEFA President Michel Platini today confirmed that Bolton Wanderers would not be playing in Europe next season.
Speaking from the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in France, Platini issued the following statement:
“After careful review of the situation the committee has decided that irrespective of Bolton Wanderers reaching The FA Cup Final the European qualifying spot will be awarded to Liverpool FC. It would not be in the interests of football for the likes of Paul Robinson and Kevin Davies to be playing in Europe when Liverpool have spent so much money on their team. I will not allow Liverpool fans to suffer another tradegy.“
The ruling was passed by way of a unanimous vote of 1-0.
In a confusing twist, is understood that should Stoke City prevail in the semi final against Bolton on April 16th then Stoke City would indeed qualify for Europe. When questioned on this, the Gall replied:
“ I have spoken to Rob (Styles) who assures me that Liverpool will finish 5th in the Barclays Premier League should Stoke beat Bolton”.
Platini confirmed that he understood that Stoke's manager M. Pulis is French.
It seems all is not lost for Bolton however. The Frenchmen shrugged off concerns that the ruling was unfair and concluded magnanimously:
“If that man Gartside wants to waste his club’s money and resources on a futile appeal, we will give it every consideration.”
The next UEFA Executive Appeals Committee Meeting is scheduled for March 14th 2012.
