He was probably seeing his family and friends.. Don't see what's wrong with that. He was given time off, so he can do whatever he wants with that time, the same way any of us would.aussie_wanderer wrote:why was he in madrid anyway

What did he have?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Alonso in trouble?
He has now been charged and awaiting a court date .. charged with reckless homicide apparantly.

Re: Alonso in trouble?
Last time I was at the Bok I saw him rush off after the game. He came out of Deveres, threw some stuff in his jeep, got changed into casual clothes in the middle of the carpark, grabbed a holdall and jumped into a waiting black cab. I presume he was heading back to madrid straight after the game. Maybe it was his standard practice if there is no training the day after a match?boltonboris wrote:He was probably seeing his family and friends.. Don't see what's wrong with that. I was unfortunate to be stranded at ewood for a while as my lift managed to get lost coming to pick me up. He didn't get on the coach, so probably standard practice for him. Not the point like. If I was so far from home I'd be heading back when I could.marshall_42 wrote:Last time I was at the Bok I saw him rush off after the game. Re: Alonso in trouble?
hmm
A statement from the Superior de Justicia de Madrid said: "Preliminary investigating court No4 in Madrid yesterday released footballer Marcos Alonso Mendoza, who is suspected of having committed an alleged crime against road safety, driving while over the alcohol limit, a crime of negligent homicide and causing of reckless injury.
"In addition, the judge has imposed precautionary measures to withdraw his driving licence and impose a driving ban throughout the national territory for the duration of the instruction process."
Alonso can return to England while a court date is set. That process could take up to eight months.
Alonso had earlier posted the fact he was out with Navarro on Twitter: "Out with @jaimenvr for a drink and enjoying a couple of days off with the family. What a great player Jaimito is!"

Innocent until proven guilty. He's just beginning to look promising as well, get him back in the squad!

Can't imagine this will do wonders for his form...

Pedant Alert
LL I'm not having a go at you as this misspelling seems to appear more and more often these days. It's reckless driving. In this case I am quite sure that 'wreckless' is wrong in more ways than one.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Looks like Marcos Alonso is going to be charged with negligent homicide and wreckless driving.
